  1. FLAMES (30-24-13) at COYOTES (24-32-11) The Calgary Flames face the Arizona Coyotes with both teams looking to improve on rough seasons. The Flames have a 30-24-13 record and with only four wins in their last 10 games have fallen out of the playoff picture in the Western Conference while the Coyotes have a 24-32-11 record and are near the bottom of the Western Conference. Both teams look to improve in the conference and the upcoming game looks to be a good one. Flames hope defense can improve The Flames are having a rocky season despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.04 goals per game with five goals in their last game. Tyler Toffoli, Nazem Kadri, and Elias Lindholm have scored 66 goals and 94 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offenses stepped up as well. Jonathan Huberdeau, Dillon Dube, and Mikael Backlund have combined for 45 goals and 81 assists while defenseman Rasmus Andersson has added nine goals and 32 assists from the point to open up the offense. The offense has been great but the defense has struggled, allowing 3.00 goals per game. Rasmus Andersson and Noah Hanifin have combined for 7.6 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. In addition, goaltender Jacob Markstrom has struggled with a .895 save percentage and a 2.83 goals-against average on 1201 shots with -12.1 goals saved above average. Coyotes defense has been awful this year The Coyotes are having a season to forget with their offense struggling and scoring only 2.76 goals per game despite the offense turning a corner recently and scoring 17 goals in the last four games. Clayton Keller, Nick Schmaltz, and Lawson Crouse have scored 71 goals and 80 assists but the rest of the offense has struggled. Only seven active skaters have 10 goals or more and opposing defenses can eliminate the hapless offense as a result. The offense has struggled but the defense has let the Coyotes down this season, allowing 3.49 goals per game with seven goals in the last two games. Patrik Nemeth and J.J. Moser have combined for 4.0 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. Additionally, goaltender Karel Vejmelka has struggled with a .903 save percentage and a 3.36 goals-against average on 1499 shots with -2.9 goals saved above average.
  2. Time to get downright dirty tonight as we roll into Mullet Arena. Which Mullet wins tonight? LW-C-RW, lol.
  3. I don’t know if it gets us further ahead? For me the balance isn’t right, and he (for me), is the one that is not right for our lineup. I think he is a very good hockey player with a very good shot. But I don’t think the drop off to Dube is that far, and in my opinion, Dube plays a more complete game. Further to that, he cannot and should not play with Kadri, that is not the right mix either.
  4. I agree that we are seeing some good things that can hopefully continue next year. One thing I hope for next year is that Hubie - Lindy - Dube can please stay together I think Pelletier can play LW with almost anyone, so put him with Kadri and find them a big body winger who plays a hard game. Sadly or luckily we can probably still have one of the best 3rd line in the league (maybe most expensive too) Mang - Backs - Coles Then it’s time for the youth and speed invasion. Ruzie - Zary - Coronato I know Duehr is playing right now, but I don’t think that is the 4th line we should be playing. For me Toffoli is the odd man out as good as he has been, just not what we need in our top 6.
  5. Lol, thanks. It’s lucky when you’ve only done 1. I could also be 0-1 😜
  6. Lol, was having trouble figuring out the link part. All good, 🍻
  7. Thanks @travel_dude I thought I would give this a go. And I agree, I’ve been waiting a long time to see a lineup like this. The only icing on the cake would be to see Phillips on Ruzie and Duehrs wing. Time for the team to win in spite of Sutter. His tactics aren’t wrong all the time, but no more excuses, head down, heart on sleeve type of hockey.
  8. As frustrating as this team has been, this should be their motto to wrap up the season. Nothing more to do, than GO TO WAR!!!!!
  9. Flames take on the Senators, look to end home slide The Calgary Flames look to end their five-game home skid with a victory against the Ottawa Senators Ottawa Senators (33-27-4, fifth in the Atlantic Division) vs. Calgary Flames (29-24-13, fifth in the Pacific Division) BOTTOM LINE: The Calgary Flames play the Ottawa Senators looking to break their five-game home slide. 12. BRADY IS BACK IN TOWN Hopefully he leaves a lot less happy than he was here in the playoffs.
  13. Put the 2nd C on Pelletiers chest, sign Coronato and be done with it. Lol
  14. I agree this is a game you have to win. But this year we have lost a number of those games (ie: Chicago, Columbus), so yeah I’ll take this win, even if it is with a grain of salt. Time to up the game to play against some of the heavy weights of the west.
  15. I think me and you are on the same wave length regarding the 4th line. Maybe Sutter is showing both Ruzie and Duehr how to play on that grinder energy line and be effective by playing them separately with Lewis?
  16. I just got home after a couple days a way, catching up on the forum. After two great goals by our “rookies”, if our top 3 lines stay the same next year. But our 4th line next year was Phillips, Ruzie, Duehr how much better would that make us?
  17. Yeah I agree that we have not always had the timely saves when we needed them. I guess I would have to wonder if Keller coming in on an odd man rush is a medium danger chance, or a high danger chance. To be totally honest, I have no idea how they rank those? If it’s a medium danger, we’re gonna be screwed in that category, lol.
  18. You may be right, I don’t usually look up what our high danger chances for and against look like, I just go with the eye test, and IMO the flames have looked better in most aspects of the game tonight. To @rickross point, maybe we are ineffective because we throw so much rubber at the net. I think I will look at Possesion %, because I’m order for us to have that many shots, we have to be controlling the play more often than not 🤷‍♂️. On a separate note, Pelletier has been impressive to me. Great vision for the game, any time their line has any sort of turnover he is the first one back. Supports Naz and Hubie well, and is responsible in both ends.
  19. Fair comment. IMO they dominated all aspects of the first. Tanev puts one in on his own net, then a crossbar at one of me leads to an off man rush the other way that ends in a goal. Both of those plays are unlucky. Tanev’s play wasn’t bad, it was unlucky. A crossbar is a bit unlucky. So a night like tonight, maybe we need some luck to go our way.
  20. Thank goodness, c’mon hockey gods. Good Play, and shots 32-8, had to equate to better than the result the flames are getting
  21. Decent PP, followed by a goal on yourself by one of your best d men. Crossbar in one end followed up by a goal against. Neither goals are good goals, flames just have not got the bounces this year. It’s almost comical at this point.
  22. Dube is the one bright spot that plays the same way almost every shift. *edit* I think Sutter turned him into a real NHLer, last year Kyl turned the corner after a year of popcorn eating, I have a good feeling about Ruzie next year
  23. I said it earlier in the year, and I think this game is showing evidence again. If you just can’t get a save in a tight game, it changes the dynamic of a game. Right off the bat Hubie was flying around and that line was taking chances. All of a sudden a couple weak goals go in and the team is all of a sudden back on their heels.
