Oesterle didn't look very steady there.

Only saw the first 2, but didn't see any big problem from Oesterle. Holds the O line decently, good outlet passer when he has a few seconds. Had a couple of good stick ties in front of Markstrom. He's pretty fast, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I want him jumping into the rush.lol

Even a 6/7 dman takes time to adjust to a different style/teammates. Glad he went to the A for that. The A guys have the advantage of already knowing the style of play, so look a lot more seamless fitting in.

Unshockingly, didn't really notice Z missing. He was never worlds ahead of a 6/7.

Surprise (no surprise) that the top 4 were on the ice for every goal scored last night.  No negative impact from the 3rd pair.  In fact Gilbert had an assist on the Tanev goal and wasn't on the ice when he scored.  Oesterle last had a good game in pre-season, so as a measure, this was probably his best regular season game.  

 

The coach gave him props for going down and working on the things he struggled with.  He was brought up on an emergency recall, so it remains to be seen how they deal with the D.  Wranglers are on the road, so it has to happen soon.  May have already happened unofficially.  The interesting thing is Connie suggested that moving Z has the benefit of allowing space for the kids.  Whether that means Solo or Coronato is anyone's guess.

I think in his speech last night my take was making space for Coronato. But building ahead regardless...
