LouCifer
Oh well. We had our chances. I’ve been seeing a different team the last handful of games. Hopefully we get back to the original recipe.

I would be happy with Monahan, Gaudreau and Kylington. Then Mangiapane, Lindholm, Ras. That's about it. The rest play it like it's take a low % shot time or just dump it when you don;t have a play. The_People1
Aho was too good today. Single handedly stopped our PP. Making things happen in the offensive zone.

Ya the combos were weird. Just stick to, Monahan - Gaudreau Lindholm - Tkachuk Dube - Mangiapane And on D... Kylington.. after that we need D with better offensive instincts. Andersson just doesn't have it. Hanifin is only average IQ. Zadorov maybe... drives the net at least. Tanev is good defensive D but just shows we have such a big need for a Giordano-in-his-prime level Dman in our group.

Even Richardson wide open in the slot with 2 steam boats of time and did nothing with it.
conundrumed
Aho and Necas are so good. Oilers lost, so we're officially ahead of them regardless of the game in hand. Hopefully the Canes own them and we can W Boston.

Unfortunately Tkachuk and Backlund and Hanifin have been the most common on the ice when we lose in OT. Not always together (one game was). I would think that a guy like Ruzicka with that xtra space could fly. He's looked good without the puck too. Sutter doesn;t quite trust him yet. After McDavid, Mackinnon, and Matthews, you can argue Aho is the 4th best Center in the NHL right now. Instincts are through the roof. Too fast too skilled too smart. Necas was good too. He has size and drives play. Lacks finish but creates chances out of nothing. Seth Jarvis is going to be a player too. Only 19 but was everywhere doing smart things. Give him three more years and he's going to be one of the top players in the league.

Ya like you said in the other thread, when it's 60/40 chance to win the puck, he gives up. He knew he was getting pressure there and he gave up by chipping it forward and turning for the line change. 3-on-3 is all about keep away. The only forgivable reason to lose possession is you took a shot on net and lost it on the rebound.

Tkachuk's stick was one foot away from the goal line and the puck deflects 89 degrees straight up and over the net.

I'm really happy that Rosie's making a decent accounting of himself. Not trying to do too much, not doing too little. Sutter's really good with centers, and he's never had a really intense coach to my knowledge. Still hoping Ruzicka finds that anger gene via Sutter. Zacha was high end C with the Sting, so was Rosie for different reasons. Zacha was always intense, Ruzicka likely a higher ceiling, just lacked the consistent intensity to the point you get really frustrated by him. Perfect for Sutter. I would say he's probably the best choice for a C from the Heat. Gawdin seems to get points, but never seemed to do anything in CGY. Afraid to make any offensive plays. Like a Backlund without any offense. I should say a mild, less effective Backlund. It's time to sit Richardson. My gord, plays die with him out there. Froese obviously has too, but he knows what the 4th line grind is. With Ruzicka, I always think there is more there, and comes down to coaching. Coaching in Sarnia has never been great. It's a culture thing, just yell at them to play better rather than be a teacher. I have my reservations about Ruzicka, but they boil down to mentality, not skill. Imho, that's where Sutter masters. Teaching guys the required mindset and showing them how an NHLer grinds, in a nutshell. I doubt Ruzicka has ever had that to be honest. I love what I think Sutter's doing with Rosie. Imagine having Lewis and Richardson on each side of you on the bench explaining every C's tendencies at the dot and how to play in the NHL? How much more do you need? Gawdin's downfall is, you just aren't an NHLl player. They wanted you first. I think those 2 are Sutter's assts. I've thought that since they were signed. Sutter tells them the message, they report back on how they think it's being taken. The rest is up to Rosie. He's gotten 3 games in now, so maybe, just maybe...I really hope so. He's being coached hard and my initial reaction is, "he's listening and learning". Good sign He needs that and he needs good coaching. It's all on him to be, "coachable", now. GREAT chance for him here if he's smart enough to grab it. I'm cheering him for sure. Everyone in Sarnia is. Nobody cares where you were drafted Rosie. Few other teams have C positions. Few other teams have this level of coaching. Take it man. Fully commit 10 years to make millions, then take a breath. Again, it's really on him. He's skilled enough to be a top 6 C,
travel_dude
This happened on a nothing play. Was Backlund on and Lindholm came on? If so, that's an odd change. It left Lindholm coming from the bench to engage Aho. I have to look at the player shifts, because it looked strange that Tkachuk was out there. I couldn't tell from the replay if Kylington misplayed it, or was covering the guys behind the play. It looked like Lindholm had that assignment, but it was a strange result. EDIT - It was Coleman that was on with Tkachuk. Not sure how that happens. Lindholm came on mid breakaway.
