cross16
Felt like perhaps it was maybe to move past a 3 year old thread.... Stockton announces it's opening night roster. No surprises, but potentially newsworthy is that Gaudreau's brother is not on it. Quote Forwards (15): Dillon Dube, Byron Froese, Alex Gallant, Glenn Gawdin, Justin Kirkland, Ryan Lomberg, Mason Morelli, Alan Quine, Matthew Phillips, Luke Philp, Martin Pospisil, Zac Rinaldo, Buddy Robinson, Adam Ruzicka and Eetu Tuulola Defensemen (7): Brandon Davidson, Rob Hamilton, Zac Leslie, Andrew Nielsen, Corey Schueneman, Rinat Valiev and Alexander Yelesin Goalies (4): Jon Gillies, Tyler Parsons, Nick Schneider and Artyom Zagidulin https://stocktonheat.com/news/heat-announce-opening-day-roster/
cross16
Also in the bad news column. Both Parsons and Gilles already have injuries.
JTech780
There is a lot of skilled forwards on that team. I expect Gawdin and Phillips will take big steps forward this year, they looked very confident in training camp. I also expect Ruzicka and Pospisil to start slow and they get used to the pros, but will start to show their talent towards the 2nd half of the season. travel_dude
Funny because I thought the season had started with the home and home against the Baby Oilers. We lose two goalies and the season hasn;t even begun. Wow. Maybe DeSmith is available.

cross16
Hard to script a better start to his NA career for Zagidulin. Been pretty impressive from Day 1 and now off to a 2-0 start with a 93.8 Save % in the AHL.
cross16
Eetu Tuulola with a hot start to his NA pro hockey career. 4 points in 6 games. 3 goals and 2 of them have been game winners. Good start for a guy who had a so/so camp.

JTech780
Tough news for a guy that was having a great season.
cross16
Sucks for Phillips but nice reward still. Cool for Gawdin and nice ascension for an undrafted free agent.
cross16
What a season this has been for the Heat. 2 pts back of the best record, multiple prospects having big jumps from last year, and a team that is not full of AHL veterans like most of the teams around them. Cail Maclean deserves a lot of credit for this. Treliving said when they hired him they thought they had something and he may be right. Really impressive work, especially behind a blueline that really isn't very good.
JTech780
That was a quick recovery nice to see him back in the lineup.
cross16
Heat are in a fight for the playoffs after a bit of an up and down February. Dropped 2 straight n, where a few weeks ago they were close to the top of the AHL. On a good news story, several rookies have good February and are starting to crank it up. Ruzicka - 3 Goals and 9 points in 12 games Luke Philip - 3 goals and 7 points in 12 games Eetu Tuulola - 2 goals and 7 points in 11 games Nice to see them give the younger players more opportunities late in the season. I question the sitting of Kylington after playing most of the season in the NHL. If they are bound and determined to not play him, why not send him down to get some reps. I get the part about him not earning NHL pay, but he's going to be useless if they don't start using him somehow.
JTech780
The Heat have added a lot of size to their blueline for next season.
cross16
Makes perfect sense and nice moves. Not a crop of very big or physical dman that the Flames would have in Stockton next year. Should give them a deeper blueline too which is nice. Was a problem for Stockton this year, by all accounts.
cross16
Flames may have something here in Heat Head coach Cail Maclean. Pretty impressive stuff.

That is pretty impressive, especially considering Gillies and Zag were both poor at times at stopping the puck.
