kehatch
Strength of Schedule (Games Remaining): Vancouver(19): .445 Calgary(19): .455 San Jose(17): .482 Los Angeles(19): .488 Minnesota(19): .518 Winnipeg(17): .553 Basically I just took the winning percentage of the opposing teams left on each schedule. Winnipeg might be in for a rough time down the stretch. I was happy to see the Calgary has it relatively easy. It does get easier. But it may be an uphill battle if we lose the next two games. A back to back against BOS/DET on the road is going to be tough. Time to kill the BOS curse.
Pyromancer
The others are keeping pace. I guess we should just worry about continuing our own success. It is also looking like the wild card spots the Central is hogging are almost back in play... 24816
darth_henning
Disappointed that LA got points tonight. But at east we stil hold a solid ROW tie-breaker on them should it come down to that. Vancouver is within striking distance too if they falter at all. Have to keep winning though. That's all we can control right now, and the OOTSB has not been kind. The_People1
Looks like Byfugilen is out 2-to-4 weeks. It started with Seguin and the Stars, Miller and Canucks, Kane with Blackhawks, Giordano with Flames, who's next? Do the Kings lose Doughty? Do the Wild lose Dubnyk? Will the Preds suspend Ribiero for his off-ice lawsuit?
darth_henning
Blasted Wild keep getting points. Now looking like there's a 4-team race for 2/3 in the Pacific and that last Wild Card. I just hope we an keep winning to stay ahead of the Kings or Canucks (don't care which) to keep in the pacific and not have to deal with wildcard. Flamespatriot
great win tonight. This team is really starting to build momentum right now. Hopefully they continue to play with this new energy. BTW the schedule looks easy, but it's harder then it seems. Dallas will play hard, as will Colorado
Pyromancer
Screw the 5 or 10 year rebuild. There is no such thing! Well maybe the Leafs or Oilers...Sometimes things are premature......like babies or playoffs... Go Flames Go 10 teams & 8 spots..Who will be eliminated? The next 5 weeks are going to be a wicked ride with all kinds of twists & turns.Stay tuned!Another one bites the dust with Carolina theoretically falling off the playoff dream cliff. 25270
darth_henning
Also, a couple encouraging details. Even though I strongly feel we should be chasing a place in the Pacific we hold the tie breaker over WPG should we have to be conceerned about wild card spots. Win one more than the Canucks, and the same number as LA from here on out and we could have home ice advantage for at least the first round. Winning these two games given the circumstances is pretty incredible. We just passed Winnipeg and we may have passed Vancouver depending how they do tonight. Awesome. Pyromancer
So, a 4 way tie for the President's trophy? Interesting observation. I guess they will have to use tie-breakers or "settle it the usual way" With respect to wild card records needed - If all teams attain that result we will have a 16/14-way tie in each conference (minus several teams that can no longer reach the wild card bubble of course). The alpha teams will have to distinguish themselves from this herd mentality and separate from the pack. The lame & invalid teams will drop off & be consumed by their fans. So, who would be the arm wrestling representatives from those 4 top teams?
darth_henning
Hopefully Nashville can beat Winnepeg, but the Jets are leading after 2. Pittsburg can hopefully handle LA. I'm actuay rooting for San Jose over Vancouver since we hold the tiebreaker in our four games (2-1-1 vs 2-2-0)
Pyromancer
So, who would be the arm wrestling representatives from those 4 top teams? I would pick the following: MTL - Jarred Tinordi NYR - Chris Krieder NSH - Shea Weber ANA - Bryan Allen The "settle it the usual way" event will be held in Calgary with an automatic inclusion of the Flames ala Memorial Cup. Our rep will be Brian McGrattan. I like our odds!
kehatch
Vancouver is down 2 to 1 at the end if the second. If they lose we move up to second in the Pacific.

redmile16
Vancouver winning isn't a bad thing. We want sj to fall out of this. Having less teams to compete for a spot is better. Only two points behind vancouver anyways, we want to compete with as little teams as possible. Getting a spot would be unreal let alone home ice! ABC923
Flames remaining schedule: 17 games remaining, 11 against non playoff teams (including ottawa tonight, Philly and LA once), only 2 games against playoff competitors (LA and Min). Sharks remaining schedule: 16 games remaining, 8 against non playoff teams (including ottawa, philly and LA), only 2 against playoff competitors (LA and Wpg) LA remaining schedule: 17 games remaining, 7 games against non playoff teams, 6 against playoff competitors (3 against Van) Min: 17 games remaining, 3 games against non playoff teams (including 1 against LA), 3 against playoff competitors. Van: 17 games remaining, 11 against non playoff teams (3 against LA), 5 against competitors (3 LA, 2 Wpg) Wpg: 16 games remaining, 4 games against non playoff teams (including 1 against Fla), 5 against playoff competitors. The easiest schedule belongs to the Flames and Vancouver, but those three LA-Van games will be critical. Min and Wpg have the toughest schedule, but Min seems unstoppable right now. Wpg will be in tough with both Buff and Little out at the moment. San Jose has the fewest points of these teams and is one more loss in a row from more or less being done. La has the most control over their destiny with the most games against teams they are competing with for a playoff spot.
kehatch
A loss tonight won't be the end of the world. But a win tonight catches us up to Winnipeg and Vancouver in points and gives us a little bit of breathing room from LA.
