  1. Has there been any word on a projected return for Kylington?
  2. Hoping the intensity continues to ramp up. Would be easy for these guys to look at the schedule and say “OK we got through those first 3 tough matchups, time to take it a little easier tonight.” That happened so damn often back in the Iggy days, got to be very predictable. looking for Hubie to continue settling in. Last game was his best yet, let’s keep it going. predicting a good night for Dube, he’s due to make some noise.
  3. Well I think this is at the heart of both of them leaving. JG wants to put family first and it seems like perhaps he’s chosen a MUCH quieter market, where nobody on the street really expects anything of him, to do that (I honestly can’t imagine what it must be like being an NHL player in Calgary or Edmonton or Montreal, much less the guy everyone is hanging all their expectations on). Chucky’s all about the lifestyle away from the ice. I don’t begrudge either of them those things, on a personal level. But as a hockey fan, you sure like to see those guys that bring that extra level of commitment to the ice on your team. There just seems to be more compete with the new crew, and none of Chucky’s “I’m good enough to not have to work for it” demeanour. Hoping it all sticks…
  4. Hahhahahahahahahaa Elvis all the way
  5. Really happy for Monahan. Wish there was a world in which he could have worked here longterm without being a liability. Lol, I’m kind of opposite on Johnny. I hope he does really well in Columbus, even though he could have handled the situation a whole lot better. On the other hand, as much as I respect Chucky for how he left the Flames organization, I’m still a bit sour on him for some reason. I think it’s mainly because he’s always been such a non-factor in the playoffs for us. Johnny redeemed himself on that front this last time around, but Chucky sure didn’t. It kinda makes it feel like Chucky was already on his way out the door before the season had ended. Either way, very happy with the new additions, makes it a lot easier not to miss what we lost.
  6. Ick. Only thing worse would have been using Blasty again. Lmao, I love that they have to find “retro” designs for Seattle and Vegas.

Except we still don’t have any evidence that we have a strong backup option behind Smith. Lack hasn’t played enough to show us if we should expect his decent play or his lousy play the next time he’s put in (or the next time, or the next time after that...). As great as Smith has been, I would still feel a whole lot better if the coaching staff had shown us a bit more faith in Lack to this point, and he had been able to back that faith up with a few Ws.
  8. I agree it’s a bit embarrassing that he would seem so willing to let the hockey go to another city. One question for y’all, though... Presuming the NHLers are still on the outside looking in for the Olympics, will hockey still be the same marquee event that it has been during this most recent era of an NHL-studded Olympic hockey tournament? Maybe in any Canadian city it’s still safe to assume that would be the case, especially in terms of ticket sales, but I’m curious to see how it plays out in these next Olympics. I don’t expect there to be nearly the interest that we’ve grown accustomed to.
  9. Nothing about COP or Olympic Oval? These are still premier training sites, no? Would they not still be part of a new Olympic Games? Although I would expect some upgrades to them if that would be the case, and they seem to be absent from that list...

While I'm also a bit skeptical about Hartley and Treliving's real willingness to actually follow the mantra, I think after only 3 games you have to allow for a certain flexibility with the goalies. Ramo certainly earned them that win in EDM, no doubt. But Hiller played well throughout pre-season, and was definitely not the cause of the loss to VAN (nor to STL). Perhaps Ramo earned the start, but at this early point I don't think you can say that Hiller has earned the bench. And given that management is probably expecting a decent tandem out of these two goalies, I think you have to give them both relatively equal starts to begin the season, at least until enough games have been played to show that one definitely deserves it over the other. Though I'm with those who don't want this kind of wait-and-see approach to last more than the first dozen games or so. I was also a bit perplexed by Hartley's decisions early last season.
