  1. Parallax angles. Not completely over the line, only 98%. Pad is in the net but Puck isn’t completely visible. Any guesses how the flames will break the laws of physics, the time space continuum, and logic next time? 😂
  2. Ok. Up 1 again. Now, we’ll sit back and let Buffalo come at us.
  3. Well, I’ll take the goal. I thought Buffalo was being called for a penalty at the end of the 2nd
  4. Marky played very well. Happy to see that and happy with the win. It could’ve been ugly for us the first 5-10 mins of the game if not for #25. 👍🏻

Color me surprised. Helly and Sheif re-up in wpg. I’m happy for the peg that this wasn’t another exodus from Canada story.

Ya I know. I’m not going to watch another team. Marky does have his NMC so I can’t see him waiving for WPG. WPG was an easy target because of their situation with Helly being UFA at the end of this season and not wanting to re-sign with them. The idea was that WPG gets a few more years to sort out their goalie situation with Marky in nets; we get out of Markstrom’s contract, can keep Vladar, open the door for Wolfie earlier, and if we’re having a piss poor season we can flip Helly somewhere else for assets because he won’t re-sign with us either anyway. Ideally, send Marky to WPG and ship Helly to Chicago for more of a return if he’ll re-sign there. Ah, who am I kidding? You’re right. Won’t happen. Ditto.

Pardon me @conundrumed. I should have prefaced my rant with my lament for our D zone play as well. Of course, I was well aware of our defensive issues on that goal. The simple difference between a lot of teams with similar defensive zone “misplays” is a goalie that can give them a chance to bounceback by making a “routine” save. That shot was far from dangerous, and 6’5” Jacob Markstrom shouldn’t have had any issue seeing that puck from the point with his entire team out of the play and a lone player in front of him. I am not even a part time driver of the “it’s the goalie’s fault” bandwagon. The position is difficult, carries a lot of pressure, and there will be weak ones that get through. But when the “weaker” ones get through with more consistency, it definitely gets in the heads of the entire team. We know we’re not the only ones noticing this pattern/trend… and I’m miffed it’s picked up where it’s left off in no time.

Markstrom already looking in mid season form. He continues to let in the first shot on goal with consistency. Pre-season, Shmee-season. Systems change, shmystems-change. He has a single game plan - all season, and that’s to stop the puck. He had his break to get himself right between the posts, and right between the ears to start this season, but he looks exactly the same. Sucks for the team to have to worry about going down 1-0 early and often when he’s in net. Trade him 1 for 1 for Hellybyuk, or send him to chicago. I’m not watching that crap for another full season.
  9. Nails on a chalkboard my friend. Her voice is very, VERY unpleasant to my ears - whiny, scratchy, pitchy, nasaly, and you can throw in all the other dwarves names too. There’s something irritatingly inconsistent in her voice that I can only describe as her pitch fluctuating while she speaks. 😖
  10. I don’t disagree with your assessment. Knowing there are players on the team who would rather not be there would definitely impact the dressing room and on-ice product/performance. So, vibe? Dark cloud, pessimistic, how ever you want to call it there’s definitely a negative energy. However, on the flip side, Winning more than you lose tends to have a positive effect on a team, so there’s that possibility for “gelling” or “bonding” to occur as well. How do I personally feel about the flames going into this season? For the first time ever in my life, quite apathetic. There was always some spark or draw for me in previous seasons to pique my interest, but it’s sad that I’m pretty “meh” about the upcoming season. In fact, I’d say Conroy and Iggy are the only spark for me this season - but they are in management roles. The on-ice product is not a big draw for me. I’ll still watch - and post here - but the middling aspect of this team and organization has left me quite “middling” at this point about them. Again, all that could change with something to get excited about.
  11. Unless the idea is to flip Nylander for picks at the TDL I want no part of him. If Toronto doesn’t like the salary he’s looking for, do we really want to add Nylander to our roster with the salaries of Kadri and Hubie here? Yikes. 😬 Also, Hanifin is a hot commodity league wide. I’m not worried. He’s better than most second and all third pairing defensemen in the league and he’s young and on a cheap contract this year. Whether he moves now or at the TDL, we’ll get a good return. I’m hoping more for picks/prospects/young NHLers than an established player.
  12. There’s only 2 jobs in the world where you can be wrong 80% of the time and not get fired. 1. Weather man/woman 2. Calgary Flames scout 😂
  13. See. Makes no sense for us to acquire more picks. We have the same scouting staff since the flames left Atlanta. We’re outta touch, and outta our minds.
  14. Much like a hockey team can benefit from an injection of youth and “new blood”, I see the same for coaching. Mitch is my pick. He’ll be hungry. He’ll have new eyes.

I’m not a big fan of Markstrom, despite that I think he’ll have a bounceback season next year. If I were the new GM, I’d try to offload him regardless of what “Mr. Bean” said A couple of trade destination ideas, especially considering the league’s perception that Calgary miscasts their players and that they’ll have much more success out of Calgary (see: Bennett, Brodie, Tkachuk, trends…) 1. Ottawa - Talbot is UFA. Debrincat isn’t re-signing there. Not sure what we’d get back. Their 12th overall pick? 2. LA. I don’t think Korpisalo is the answer. Not sure about the return. 3. WPG. With Hellybuck going into the final year of his contract, maybe we can pull off a goalie swap. Yes, highly unlikely, but hear my rationale. - Helly made recent comments about his time to win a cup running out. *If* WPG feels or understands he might not re-sign after next season (and given that WPG - like us - has difficulty luring free agents), Markstrom being under contract could look *very* attractive to them for stability in net. - How does it help us? Well, we get 1 year of Hellybuck which would align with the final contract years of many of our players. - Calgary wants a playoff run and I think Helly would give us at minimum league-average goaltending to get into the dance. - Helly opens the door for Wolf to come in now that Markstrom’s contract is moved - Vladar’s position is ultimately decided by Helly at year’s end.
  16. Well, it’s the in thing to do - all the cool kids are doing it! 😏
  17. Wow. Bennett and Tkachuk look really good together. Too bad Bennett never got a winger to play with here. He’s been a menace, and him a Chucky on the same line is f’n amazing!
