  1. 8 goals on 60 shots vs. 4 goals on 39 shots, and he has earned it? Against the Nucks he was 5 goals on 28 shots, all even strength. Can't see it. Ramo was 4 goals on 39 shots, 2 of which were PP goals. He kept us in it to the SO, but just wasn't prepared for the likes of Grabo and Ovi.
  2. Always thinking there exists a conspiracy theory.... Perhaps they are showcasing JoeyMac with the idea of trading him??? Or maybe they want to show some value for when they waive him??? Non-conspiracy theory suggests that they feel his style of play matches the type of offense Montreal has. I think, win or lose, they have to start Ramo on a nightly basis, not win and you're in. We are rebuilding, so why bother with someone that won't be here next year?
  3. If we regularly score 3 or 4 goals per night, but give up 35-39 shots, I think that says more about the D.
  4. Sure. He played well enough against a lesser team. He made some saves look easy, but also looked out of place on a lot of shots. Overall, it was a good team effort, and Joey gets the W.
  5. His first game against some elite-level forwards, facing 39 shots, and you say he is not an NHL goaltender? Seriously? His side-to-side movement needs some work, but he had some decent saves. Shoot out (skills competition) was a bit sad, but no different result than Kipper in recent years. Why not give the guy 20 games and see how his stats look, and then call for Ortio to come save the team. I'm less concerned with having an elite level goalie during year 1 of a rebuild; I would rather see the team build up a strong goaltending duo for when we will be a contender again. Ramo could have 2 or 10 years of success in the NHL; let's not bail after one game.
  6. On the actual topic of goaltending.... http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=685163 Brossoit is indeed a victim of the Flames' depth in nets. Hope the added playing time helps his development.
  7. Yeah, I think I floated that idea in another thread. I truly think it makes more sense to have Joey as an insurance policy than the bonafide starter. I doubt he will play lights-out this year, so I don't hold out much hope as him being the future of the Flames until Gillies/Ortio/Broissoit take the reins (assuming that one of them does).
  8. Have to agree with that statement. I'm not convinced JoMac is guaranteed to be the backup, nor play more than 20 games. He was, IMHO, a stopgap signing in case Ramo didn't come over. You will probably see Berra play more games than JoMac.
  9. Would like to see Jay put an offer sheet to Ryan O'Reilly. $5.4M over 5 years or longer. Avs could match, but would they? Would only cost at most 1,3rd draft pick. Make it happen Jay!
