  1. Zaddy with his one bad giveaway. That's all the bad for tonight. Goal for him coming. They sure let Fox walk in.
  2. Get some Moneyhands. Don't need you so much 5v5. Yet. Get your confidence first
  3. Backlund misses the net. Haven't heard that ever before.
  4. Instead we get the Tkachuk call. Lightweight calls. Seems like the same crew from the other night.
  5. Good lord, are we going to hear about McD during a Flames game? During the media event earlier they asked Sutter if he saw the play whrere McD beat the team 4 on 1. Sutter said, well it was 1 on 1 and the other guys stood around. Shut that media guy up pretty quick.
  6. Ugg, I don't really like the lines for tonight. Lucic-Dube-Mangoapane Richardson-Monahan-Lewis That 4th line was pretty much the worst one we have dressed in years. Not a shot against Monahan, just Richardson does not hockey at all. He may have been a relaible player, and might still have some left in the tank, but boy he was useless last game.
  7. Any idea who the starter is tonight? I think they need to go with Darth, since Markstrom looks better when he comes back after a game off. He's been okay the last two. Not great. Good enough to win, but one save short.
  8. I watch a goal like that and think, yeah that would be counted against us, but overturned if we scored it. It really seems to depend on the team what the league does.
  9. Cheers RD. Thanks for creating the daily threads for Flames games. We get to see Igor again, while the hapless Oilstink got the horrible Georgiev. Guess they were expecting a regulation loss, so they gave us the better goalie in case we start slow.
  10. Johnny used to get distracted like that when missed calls went by or he got shoved into the boards. He doesn't whine now and he's that much better for it. Gets most calls now. Doesn't get off his game. Lets a big guy deal out the punishment, and w have enough of those. Tkachuk doesn't need to step over the edge even if he is the one to step up. Tkachuk's worst enemy is the media. There is always some story about him. The "almost" trade. The closed door meeting. The Kassian incident. The Doubty incident. The Detroit incident. Guys like Francis poke the bear and he responds showing his frustration or disappears entirely. Find that edge and stick to it. Effective player and skilled goal scorer when he's not hamming it up.
  11. I hate to admit it but the NHLPS got it right. I had originally thought it was a play on the puck or something like that. But it was aimed high, not deflected high.
  12. Give the coach props for recognizing the talent and pointing out the things he didn't like. He seems to take it in stride a bit more than Valimaki. Not every prospect has the same path or inspiration. I suspect you either see Hanifin get sat or moved to play with Tanev. But I think Kylington is done as a 7th D. They want to see him play with every other guy. Find his weakness, if any. Plug other holes.
  13. I saw the replay on TSN tonight. It did seem a little worse than I suspected. It might have been innocent, but the video evidence doesn;t make him look that way. Regardless, how may times have you seen a high stick called as a fine? Never?
  14. An old thread, but hate to start a new one just to post this: Tkachuk fine $5k for high stick on Klingberg. It was a penalty. It was a careless use of his stick not intentional at all. At least I didn't see it that way. Sure it's a penalty every time. But fines now for minor penalties? NHL is sending him a message for chirping the officials. Nothing more or less. BT needs to contact the NHL and blast them for this. It's blatant CGY hating.
  15. The last thread for Ollie is over 2 years old and I can't bump it up. How good has he been playing? Pleased to see him take camp by storm and give Sutter a reason to believe in him. Zadorov scratched in favor of him. 2nd in D scoring, just one point behind Ras. Doesn't get the PP time that Hanifin does, but he seems like a safe option. Keep it up Oliver!
  16. The typical Stars game where the refs let go obvious ones and call marginal at best ones. Tkachuk was a dick for chirping, but you get why he was doing it. Not that penalties had anything to do with the outcome. I believe it was a slash that led to the loss of possession in OT, but whatevs. Make no mistake, the lineup changes impacted the game flow. Mangiapane with the 9th lowest 5v5 time of forwards. Lewis and Richardson were a real problem. They allowed Dallas to extend zone time and get chances. The neutral zone was a mess. Dallas plays a style that exposes those mistakes. I wouldn't call it old habits as much as poor play. The passes were off the mark, so the N zone was exposed. Overall it was a bad game but not the worst. Marky needs to be better. Vladar really should have got the start to keep him fresh. A couple were off deflected shots (OT winner off Backlund's stick, shot goes off Sequin's body), and one a cross-crease perfect pass, but he needs to save the Comeau one and the OT deflected one.
  17. I re-watched Kylington's assist on Zaddy's goal. It was a great pass, but boy howdy that was an incredible one man effort to get to the point of the pass. Almost lost the puck, but skated into it with ease, controlled entry, drew a delayed penalty on the play and perfect pass to a wide open Zaddy. Hanifin's time on the PP should be done. The 3v3 was completely cut from his ice time. Two of three of the OTL were with him either making a questionable pinch or blowing the coverage on a two on one. Starfish, give the shooter the lane or hammer the shooter early. Unfortunately, if you have Tkachuk and Backlund out there, the lazy back check will be present. I might be inclined to swap Kylington with Hanifin. I would say that Ras is capable of being the main guy but give him a strong skater with some sense. Tanev will settle down Hanifin again.
  18. Sutter was mixing things up a lot. The parade to the box messed up playing lines, but I think the blender was also out. The good thing is that if this was their worse game, we still managed a point. You can fix bad. You can't fix where you outplay a team and don't score. Hanifin doesn't play well against heavy teams. Or at least that appears to be the problem. He has been good most of the other games he's played. I know there wasn't a ton of shots, but 5 blocked shots the entire game? Anyway, I'm not overly PO'd about the loss. I prefer that we get the 1st goal, but we don't let the games ever get away from us. When was th last time we were able to say that. Next game, 2bd of a B2B game for NYR. Wonder if we get the starter again.
  19. It was a typical game against the Stars. Every game is like this. Some times we get good goaltending (Rittich and we still lost). Some times we get sticks in the way or loss of concentration by D. Zaddy was good for a change. Kylington was good; not his fault in OT. We seem to have a problem in OT where we can't defend. The forward lines are still a work in progress. No speed from Tkachuk messes up the top line. Lucic with Dube at C; against a big team Dube gets manhandled. I like Coleman but I think there may be better use than with Pitlick. Do we just want a good defensive line? Monahan off the 4th lne please. It makes no sense.
  20. Poor sequence where we had the puck and little pressure. If you are passing to your D, make sure it's at least close to him.
  21. Kylington is quickly becoming a fave. Do not use Hanifin on the PP or OT
  22. Zadorov with the snipe. Terrible game by a lot of players (Tkachuk). Timely saves by Markstrom - not.
