For some reason the Backlund line was benched for most of the 2nd. There was a suggestion that Backlund lost every draw. When 4th line has as many shifts, then something is going on.

^^^^^^ It's funny how last year under Sutter, Kylington impressed Sutter enough to win a full time job. It came down to Kylington vs Valimaki. One guy looked 100% ready in camp and the other tentative. Still got games in early on, but once Zaddy proved he was worth it, Valimaki was dumped. That was 21/22. 22/23 I can't tell you if he was given much of a chance in camp or not. End result he was waived. On the surface, Sutter appears to not pump up players unless they are NHL regulars. Or had a camp that they blew away the other choices. It should come as no surprise that prospects are not here. Play them with only AHL players in camp. When they don't score hatties, then they belong in the AHL. Because AHL is not NHL.

Sure, that might be worth a look. I am a bit hesitant to try 3 centers on Backlund's line. Maybe there is a slight adjustment that meshes better with Kadri, since I find Mange there a bit rough. Ruzicka-Kadri-Toffoli Mangiapane-Backlund-Dube I think that using Backlund with Dube and Mange helps get them into the zone in transition. Backlund is one of the better transition players, so there is less struggle on the boards. Dube and Mange are better on the rush, from what I have seen. Ruzicka helps Kadri with a bit better possession so it's not a one and done so much. The big body also meshes with Kadri's game. Toffoli is one option for a sniper. The unfortunate thing is we never got practices with Kadri playing with others. He was held out due to the long playoffs, so we just went with placeholders. So changes are one practice and Sutter makes a change if he likes the immediate look.

I have this crazy feeling that Ruzicka is exactly the right player for Hubey. Just an overlap in position. I also think we are one player short in the top 9. Dube and Mange connected on a pass but it was LW to C. I do like Mange on the RW but not with Dube on LW. Maybe Ruzie? Okay so I am all over the map. We need another Ruzie to balance out the aize on the top 9.

The most bizarre thing was having a 2 man advantage and taking a penalty on the PP. That isn't unusual, but it happened due to completely mishandling the play. We keep trying the ame setup on the PP and same personnel. It doesn't seem to be working. We get the chances to put teams away and we can't click. We eet momentum and send out a line that gives it back.
