  1. Pelletier was asked about the public comments, but he wouldn't respond to how he felt about them, one way or the other. He did say that the coach told him that he had a good game and that his minutes were dictated by special teams. As much as that makes sense, Lucic was also off the ice for a full 5 minutes. As long as Pelletier is receiving positive comments for good play and his ice time fits his performance relative to the rest of the players, it's fine.
  2. Says the insider. Gaudreau indicated that he was looking to sign the previous summer when he and his wife were looking at homes in Calgary. You can call him a lier if it makes you feel better. Or maybe his mom was lying. The Flames pitched an offer to him the previous summer. “The summer before, had they offered him a contract even remotely close, he said this would’ve been a non-issue, ‘I would’ve been in Calgary for eight more years,'” Jane said. “For whatever reason, I don’t know the politics of that world, but I guess maybe they didn’t feel they were ready to offer him a contract like that.”
  3. He made a very adult decision to put his family first. When he was looking to sign the year before, the team was unable to come to a deal. Making the decision he did hurt him just as much. Not a lot of choice for him.
  4. The best option is that Markstrom starts playing better and there is enough interest out there from a quasi contender. One that needs a 1A/1B type. Can't see any right now, but things change. Trades of expensive goalies with term don't happen often at all. But a team looking for 2 years of a solid goalie happen now and then. When the deal was signed, it was obvious that one year may be bought out. Not a great thing to be stuck with, but we did need a starter at the time.
  5. I understood that, but the thoughts that they had the other Granlund and Wotherspoon ranked so high is troubling. No doubt that the scouting of Baertschi had something to do with Wotherspoon. TBH, I'm not sure why we are going down this rabbit hole with BT. Draft picks since BT has been the overseer of the draft is more appropriate. I would say that began a year after he joined the Flames. Post Mason MacDonald/Hunter Smith draft.
  6. Well, that is questionable posting no doubt. LOL. Thank you for notifying me of some of the weird stuff you have seen. I asked Peeps to also be on the look out for it. He deletes, but sometimes I just hide the posts, since I don't want to mess up the thread.
  7. Tonight is gonna be a tough one for the fans and the players that had his back for so many years. Would be a great game to have Pelletier and him battling it out for the puck, but that's not likely to be a matchup we see.
  8. Johnny had Hudler as a mentor early on. Then good ole Jagr talked to him and told him he could win the scoring title. Pelletier and Hubey can talk a lot en Francais, if they don't feel comfortable with English.
  9. Here's what Dube had to say about Pelletie... Dube on Pelletier’s debut: “He looked great. That whole line looked great — him and Walks (Walker Duehr) and Lew were awesome. They played with a lot of speed. They had a lot of chances early on in the game. Honestly, I think they got us going” I don't think anyone is expecting to hear Sutter say the kid had a good game. But Sutter claims the game is played for the fans, and he gave the fans the middle finger. Perhaps it was the media he raised the digit to, but the fans are the ones listening. Hear the roar when Pelletier took the lonely skate as first guy during warmup? As long as Sutter says to the guys in the room the things that bring together the team, public comments only mean things to the fans. If a guy like Dube is saying that outwardly and the coach isn't acknowleging it in the room, then the team may start to take sides. You would have to think that class guys like Huberdeau and Weegar would start to wonder.
  10. That record is about a .571 points %. It doesn't matter what the playoffs have as OT format if we can't make the playoffs.
  11. We were in one of the easiest stretched of the schedule. Very few teams in the playoff bubble. 9 wins and 10 losses since December 9th. Points in OTL and SOL, sure. By Sutter's calculations, we need to be higher thab .650 in points %. I have heard of one recently traded for player that is fed up. Trash the player if you like, but they expected to play for a class organization. Some of his public comments have irked the players. Comments like "player was having a Satoshi Nakamoto". Personally, if I was a regular player and I heard the coach dismiss the effort in public of a rookie, I would be pissed. That shows no class. Go watch Rudy and see what players feel about guys that practice hard and because of their size won't get a fair shot. The same team that lost to CHI, STL, NAS and COL didn't play for the coach any more today than in those losses. Then again, we had a different goalie tonight.
  12. I used to like Sutter's pressers. Always entertaining and rarely confrontational. That had completely changed this year. He rarely has time now to give an answer to a good question. Even those hockey guys that just want to focus on the game play get snide answers. Perhaps this goes back to the days before Phillips was called up or played. Anyway, it's a stupid way of answering the question. You don't think he knew what the kid did out there or what his number was? So, with his couple of chances and low ice time, what are the chances he plays against CBJ. He played because Sutter sat Ruzicka.
  13. 4 minutes of ice for Pelts. Not exactly a try out.
  14. I know it was a great play but we do that too often. The direct play also provides the chance for a greasy rebound.
  15. And we put out the 2nd line who gets a penalty. Ugg
  16. Obviously, the NHL has no idea what a goal is. Toffoli's was less of a kick
