Okay so last years was just an off the cuff thing but this year let us formalise it a bit. At the end of every month (Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar) and at season end you will earn points based on your answers. Here are the questions 1 - Will the Flames make the Playoffs? Yes or No. At the end each month if the Flames ARE in a playoff position and you answered YES you get 1 point. IF your answered NO you get 0 points. At the end each month if the Flames are NOT in a playoff position and you answered YES you get 0 point. If your answered NO you get 1 point. 2 - What will the Pacific Divsion standings be at the END of the season? Number each team from 1st to 8th At the end of each month you get 1 point for every team that is in the correct position you projected them to be. Slightly different this year 3 - Name from 1st to 3rd the top 3 GOAL scorers at the END of the season. At the end of each month you get 1 point for any player in the correct predicted position. 4 - Name from 1st to 3rd the top 3 players with the most ASSISTs at the END of the season At the end of each month you get 1 point for any player in the correct predicted position. Hopefully this might mean Eakin and Milano are done. Zohorna is an interesting pick up. Backlund not in tonight so I think Ruzicka is placeholder. 4th line of Lewis Rooney Looch/Ritchie I could live with. Carry Ruzicka / Ritchie as the extra Fwds. 3rd line of Zohorna Backlund Coleman.

Will there be any buyers remorse? Athletic did a piece the other day about large contracts with your new shiny new toy and that it rarely works out. AKA Skinner, Karlsson, Seth Jones et al. However I think this one might just work for us and assuming the cap will increase in the next year or so this could be very good in the longer term.

Massive difference was Iggy was already past his prime and hunting for a cup. These 2 would be sort after at TDL for any contender and if we retained 25/50% salary even more so. However I am more optimistic and I think we will end up signing both. With regard to trading Gaudreau/Tkackuk at TDL, BT would have been lynched. You don't do that when sat in 1st in your divisison and having a great year and have possbilbilty of making some noise in the playoffs. Yes, we were not good in round 2 but until you get to the playoffs you don't know how your team is going to react and Sutter is on the right track when he preaches learning how to win in the playoffs. Your argument in other threads about trading the 2 of them after the lockdown playoffs is valid but that is ancient history and hindsight is a wonderful thing. Actually you are on to a good thing - becasue only 1/32 can ever win Lord Stanley so you can pan BT Flames etc as much as you want and nearly always be right! Anyhow we know with Sutter and BT in place there will be no tank for Bedard. So I guess we just got to get on the bandwagon and support them. Sure as hell been an interesting off season and given us plenty to talk about and I don't think we are done yet.

Okay this has got me thinking... Surely there is some mechanism where the cap should take into consideration local taxes etc.... The cap is meant to level the playing field for all teams. If one state/province's tax is more penal a team needs to pay more to attract a player rather than choose Florida Vegas et al.
