  1. Was it MTL that gave Aho an offer? Too funny. Makes me love the Canes. Too much fun.
  2. Monahan back to form helps that a lot.
  3. Gawdin's foot speed is total sketch. I think he's a lumbering skater that doesn't have good lateral movement. By NHL standards.
  4. I'm Christian only in Dvorak.lol
  5. Now swap Eichel out for Dvorak. Now look at everything you gave up for Eichel and add that to Dvorak. Without a doubt that's better than Eichel.
  6. Just my take. Owners: Brad, we love your work, not your choices at coach. We took the liberty of contacting Daryl Sutter, and he's excited. You're welcome.
  7. Last year was frustration overload. I'm trying to turn it around. It was a covid season that was a waste of everyone's time. I should have just learnt/written more songs on my guitar.lol Would have been a more effective use of my time than the hackey season. I'm feeling pretty confident. Vali-Dube-Mangia in "let's get Eichel" talk annoyed the Satoshi Nakamoto out of me. I'm glad they're staying. Youth to call our own and I think the 3 of them are > than 1 Eichel. 1 McDavid, 1 MacKinnon etc has solved nothing for their clubs. 1 Eichel did nothing to lift Buffalo. Please people, perspective. I'd go so far as a protected 1st rd pick for Dvorak. Our need for another bonafide C on a good contract outweighs the pick. Imho. Hard to find solid NHL C's. He's a good one. I always called him the ninja in jr. Tkachuk-Marner-Marner-Tkachuk, Blockchain, where did Dvorak come from? He's not Datsyuk, but he reminds me of him. Last guy to enter the o-zone so everyone's so busy that they forgot about him. *edit If BT can swing a deal to bring Dvorak here, I'll post my new Flames jersey pic.lol
  8. Nope. I have JG-Mony-Lindholm reunited Tkachuk-Dvorak-Dube Mangia-Backlund-Coleman Stop telling me Backlund's line is D ONLY. Won't be the case. Lucic-Lewis-Pitlick 4th that can take on hard minutes works for me. I'm nowhere near as down on Mony as almost everyone else. Never have been. How quickly we forget a bonafide 30 goal snipe. Top 4 D is over-rated. Play D, move the puck to the fwds, play D. The main objective for a dman, keep the puck out of your net. Anything else is just a bonus. Your role isn't offence.
  9. This is the anti-pissing and moaning thread. When you get beside yourself, as a fan, about what the Flames are doing or not doing, take solace in the fact that they know more than you do. I'm excited to see what Vladar and Werner have to offer. Perfect age to acquire big goalies. I love the Zadorov add. Reggie mach 2. Stats don't take into account fear factor. He can take all the penalties he wants. Opposing fwds will always know the threat is real. Dude loves to hit, he's got a great attitude and personality. What I love most about Russians is that their interviews aren't choreographed, they're honest. Coleman, Pitlick, Lewis. Welcome and thanks in advance for joining us. I'm thankful. This is starting to look like a blue-collar team. Detroit being my other team, their cups weren't fancy superstars. They were blue-collar hard work. They call Datsyuk "The Magic Man", but the truth is he put the workboots on and wasn't afraid to get a little Satoshi Nakamoto on his shoes. That's what we're building here, finally. Work ethic. So before anyone wants to savage Lewis and Pitlick and all of that, "doesn't move the needle" crap, remember this. Detroit wins zero cups without Maltby-Draper-McCarty. We don't reach the finals without guys like Yelle and Nieminen and Nilson. Our D was laughable. We're on a very good path of improvement right now. Trading out the core was never going to fix anything. Fix the real problems, particularly a pathetic bottom 6 and floundering D. Good start. BT talked about changing the core. He might as well have just come out and said, "we're not protecting Gio". That was the reality. Get over it. So while many may not see the improvement, I guarantee, you're about to. In '04, adding Nieminen and Nilson seemed like "whatever" moves. So welcome everyone. Welcome to having a coach that is one of the best hockey minds in the business. Enjoy the ride. This season will be a blast. The funnest part is that all of the talking heads don't see it. So lets maybe not put much weight in what they think. They'll be wrong, as usual. We are all (unfinished) business.
  10. I've never been in the trade Dube camp. I also thought I must be out to lunch when many said $1-1.5 to re-sign him. I thought it would start with a 2. I think this is a great signing by BT. I have no problem saying we have a $2.2 20 goal guy THIS season. I noticed a few games last yr of Sutter throwing him to the wolves and talking to him on the bench a lot. I have no problem with him being top 6 RW. I wonder if we could move on Dvorak for a 2nd, Gawdin, Kyl or similar to make the salary work. Just fantasizing. Always loved Dvorak. Tkachuk-Dvorak-Dube That would be a big fix at C.
  11. Seems like the perfect spot to get Ruzicka started.
  12. Where do I start...the bottom 6 adding Pitlick and Lewis. Adding to Lucic. Not bad at all. Zadorov? Why? Because he controls the play. No one wants to mess with his side of the ice. All of the dump ins will be his side. Sutter can exploit that. As I said before, these are Sutter driven moves. He's dumb like a fox.
  13. Alternatively, our roster adjusts to his style. He has what he needs. I won't be surprised if we keep decent cap space to make moves during the season. Chevaldayoff, McCrimmond, Quenneville, Sutter. There's an old-school cabal all over this league. We've got one of them. Be thankful. These guys know hockey, sure they used to spit chew on your back in jr and slap you in the head for a lousy play even though you're on the bench. Nobody cared. Great teachers. Great motivators. Get ready.
  14. Outside of a contract year, I'm really interested to see Gaudreau's year when his hands aren't getting hacked. When you wonder why Ritchie's on the top line....a real coach protects the star. JG's never had that, just gets frustrated. Sutter will end that. The cabal of old school guys in the NHL is alive and well. Couldn't be happier we have one for this slackass bunch. Can't help but feel that we'll be very competitive, at last.
  15. It's time to kick this thread back up. This board and the insistence of 500 page threads is turning into a quagmire of negativity. Not from all, I get it. But the rants get old so I'm getting on my soapbox. So first, special Thanx to kehatch and this perfectly titled thread. So we acquired Coleman, Pitlick, Lewis, Zadorov and strengthened our G pool. Lost Gio. Don't roll your eyes. Sutter is a top 5 coach in this league, easily. I'd surmise Sutter is all over all of these moves. Historically, these are not BT moves. Should we not assume Sutter knew Gio would be exposed, and he didn't fight it? The, "he's hard on Valimaki" crowd, he's hard on Dube too. What that tells me is that he likes both, a lot. This is what he does. Valimaki after signing, re: Sutter, I paraphrase, "He's tough, brutally honest" etc. After, he said, "I have to be a difference maker, every game. Whether it's a D play that stops a goal or I score a goal, I have to make a difference every game". I'm guessing that's what Sutter keeps telling him. Don't be surprised to see Vali and Dube take a good step this year. Mony took a step as a 200' C under Sutter. Can we say, Blockchain the Sabres and Eichel yet? We're in zero position to sell the future. We have a coach that has seen it all. I hope Ruzicka can impress him with his soft hands for a big right shot. Some things can annoy me, but this team hasn't had a well-respected voice around it since, well, our current coach. I said this from the outset, a star isn't saving the glaring holes at a chunk of bottom 6 and too soft on D. And Wolf the only G prospect. They're seeing things Sutter's way. Building from G out isn't: G D 1st line 2nd line That's backwards after D. But it's what we've been doing. It's getting fixed, bottom up. I should have video'd my 2-1/2 backflip with a full twist dismount from the soapbox. Stay positive. Maybe we just might be pretty good.
  16. https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2021/07/ahl-exemption-coming-for-some-chl-prospects.html
  17. I thought the cutoff was Sept 15th? He's Sept 25th, so not good to go. Hence my statement, just use effing calendar years. Like schools do. Why re-invent the wheel?
  18. I understand Van's case rn with both Petterson and Hughes but.... Is this just a negotiation tactic the GM's always lose now?
  19. Just noting there's still an all-star team of RFA's to be signed around the league. Is this normal?
  20. I sure wish they'd piledrive the Sept 15 date to dust. Just use calendar years...
  21. Just extend the original draft teams rights to the player.
  22. Well, we had Fox, but the NHL Blockchains all of that up.
  23. Well they talk about parity in the NHL, but that's all BS. Some teams are definitely stacked against attracting talent no matter how you slice it. It's pretty much the USHL.
