  1. I have xl hands and about 4" on him. His hands are big for his size, and like a lumberjacks when shaking his hand. Excellent guy, always smiling. Couldn't be happier for him.
  2. I can get with that. Everyone's problem is he's exactly what we need, but a better version. I hope more preseason games equates to less AHL-looking first dozen or so NHL games. The couple I've watched still look a little sketch.
  3. Some exceptional resumes there for sure. Clancy seems like the cream of the crop.
  4. Yesterday he was wing in practice. What's up with Pitlick?
  5. Last practice before Saturday's morning skate. Well, well, well, look who the 7th Dman is.
  6. Well you're gonna love this. Sting goalie Ben Gaudreau. His only showing last yr was being Canada's U18 goalie. SJ 3rd rd. If he actually played more games last year, maybe last yrs best? I've watched him twice now so far this year. He's reaaally good.
  7. And as you pointed out in a different thread awhile ago, they made some atrocious trades. It amazes me the talent that has filtered through. Zito has done a great job though, likely listening to Quenneville.lol Florida is well worth following. With the added bonus of the great story that is Ryan Lomberg on their 4th line. If ever there was a guy that has fought tooth and nail and clawed his way into the NHL, BT called it. Just didn't stay with it. Maybe he should trust his initial instincts? When Quenneville is saying, "I like that guy", BT was onto something. I've been Lomberg's biggest fanboy for a long time. 4th line guys. 6-7mins/gm of fireball intensity on the bench most of the game. Who needs that?
  8. There's gonna be a lot of them jj. Put it this way, if Zary or Pelletier played in the OHL, they would have been with Stockton all year. The O didn't turn a wheel, so it may be interesting to see how many 19yo's from the O get taken in next years draft. I may be wrong, but I believe it was this areas Flames scout that told us to take a flier on Beck. I seem to recall that talk. I REALLY feel for all these kids that had zero viewings last year and teams had to rely on their 16-17yo footage. I'm totally with cross about this prospect. When we selected him, the analysts really liked that we went there. I kinda like that scouting had to revert to Midget hockey. That's my fave place to start noticing players. Beck is from the Toronto Marlboros. Always, always a perennially top notch Midget program. My order of Midget, at least what I get to watch, is: USNDP U17 - based in Michigan Shattuck-St. Mary's Toronto Marlboros Detroit Little Caesars Detroit Honeybaked Chicago Mission London Jr Knights Don Mills Flyers If I missed any, somebody fill me in. We have A scout here out of Windsor last I checked. To scout all of, at least, these teams. AND the OHL. I love Midget hockey, it is my fave. They play hard. And the best place to meet the parents. Not hobnob with arrogant scouts. The parents are real. I've met at least a dozen former Olympic athletes that are parents. You won't meet a more humble bunch, just cheering on their kid without thinking everyone is the next Gretzky, as is the case in Canada. They should hire me. lol I'd crush it. Beck is still a big maybe pick. The rest is up to him. Missing a whole yr...thanks covid. But that's a good shot by our scouting, pretty much doing it blind. Expect a jr ppg guy that has a pretty complete game, or would pound points a lot harder if he weren't pretty well rounded. That's a solid pick at 6th rd, regardless of how it goes from here. He's got the tools to transition to harder leagues if he wants it badly enough, which is always the problem.
  9. Re waiving Ritchie. Please do. Normally cheer all ex-Sting. He was far and away the laziest ever. 2nd Rd pick. I laughed.
  10. Hopefully that's teachable.lol Don't interfere, just make them change course for a couple seconds. Buy time.
  11. Didn't see much 'peg last yr, but noticed it against Edmonton in TC. Reminded me of LA. It's smart play, but I'll have to watch it a little more. It was once really annoying to watch. Definitely saw it on Edmonton rushing, 3rd man has to break stride and it breaks up the threat from behind.
  12. What I like about Lewis is he understands how to get in the way to slow down an opponent. He's good at it. I always thought he was annoying to play against because he always gets in the way. Try to join the rush, try to help on D, he always read it well and just got in the way to buy 3 more seconds. Used to irritate me all of the time. Always puts guys off stride. It's smart. Don't have to check, just get where the other guy's going first.
  13. If we didn't take him, I may have never forgiven.lol He was a 1D for the Sting, for Team Canada, not sure where his 1D potential went sideways. At #16, I was, "Awesome, the Wings"! Then they traded Datsyuk's contract.... He's yet another shining example of why I don't really take much stock in National team performances. A bunch of kids that have barely played together, in a short tourney. Definitely can't erase how good a player actually is in his own league. I just grin and bare Tkachuk to this day. Couldn't stand him in jr. Still roll my eyes a lot at his antics.
  14. Well played my friend, well played.lol
  15. Having watched Chychrun a lot, and playing vs the Knights a lot, I was completely beside myself that any scout would have Juolevi above Chychrun as an NHL dman for both floor and ceiling. They were on 2 different planets. They completely used Chychrun's Jr tourney against him. Because, well, scouts are really no smarter than you and I. They're just in the business. He was second only to Stamkos for being great in the community also. Which every team also needs to scout. Tired of him being ARI's only good young player though. Should be a 20G/40A dman, but it's ARI, he'll be -56 with no one to help. The only guy they won't trade, poor sod.
  16. 3G, 2A in his 1st 3 games. I'm with you cross. There was a lot of talk that he was 1 of many OHLers whose stock dropped due to not playing last year. A LOT of OHLers are bound to exceed their draft positions last year. The USHL players really got elevated in this past draft imho. I'm very interested to see how this particular draft shakes out. I expect major turbulance as the O gets rocking again back to the best of all of the jr leagues. Should be fun. And happy I'll catch him a few times this year.😃
  17. 1. Yes 2. 1. CGY - Hard to play in a soft division 2. VGK - Trading Fleury becomes a huge mistake 3. EDM - Holland turning them into cap hell Detroit 4. LAK 5. VAN 6. ANA 7. SEA 8. SJS 3. 1. Gaudreau 2. Tkachuk 3. Lindholm 4. Extended I've come to learn that consensus is really overstated. So when I see it, I generally go in the other direction. Both ANA and LA could be better than anticipated as they slowly get younger and faster. If Lehner gets injured, which he probably will, Vegas' cinderella juggernaut will take a bit of a nosedive.
  18. Huberdeau 2011 3rdoa Barkov 2013 2ndoa Ekblad 2014 1stoa That’s a rebuild. 7-10yrs later they’re really good. There’s how long “tear it down” takes.😬
  19. Hindsight is boring. Move on.
  20. This might be the worst analogy I’ve ever heard.lol c’mon red and cheers. So your making a ham and cheese sandwich and the mustard just flies out too fast. So you add mayonnaise and it turns into a disaster. Kind of analogy.lol
  21. Really hope Duehr gets to stay up, at least to start the season. Sure looks like he's earned it.
  22. Makes perfect sense, especially with final cuts coming soon.
  23. Was he picking that fight off of the draw? Looked like it in the short clip that I saw.
