  1. My son is 8. Tkachuk was his first favorite player and first jersey he was given. REALLY sucked having to tell him.
  2. I would agree, NJ is the better offer on talent and I think the Flames need to maximize talent here. Plus I still think you can make a case that NJ isn't a playoff team next year so there is more potential on the number 1 pick too. The only concern I have is what is Bratt gonna cost. I'm a little weary of him trying to cash in big after only 1 season.
  3. I don't watch the Blues a ton but all of the profiles i've seen on Kyrou he profiles as a borderline elite offensive talent. Setup and finishing. The transition piece is what jumps out because Flames are losing a lot of that with Gaudreau. D is a problem though for sure.
  4. I'm not a huge fan of the Preds either and I feel like a trade with them would be light on upside. I'm lukewarm on Tomasino. I think he will be a good player but i'm not sure he's got too much upside. Feels like more of a middle 6 center. Not a horrible return if he is the center piece but just not an exciting one. I really like Fabbro as a player but Flames don't need a 24 year old RS dman who i think has shown us his full potential. He'd be their 3rd best RS dman. Jeannot seems like a fine player but he's depth IMO. Don't really want see the Flames prioritize depth here. Askarov would be a nice add as it's always nice to stack goaltending but as the primary piece for Tkachuk? Not a fan. I'm not a fan of Glass at all. Not a good enough skater. Prospect pool doesn't have much that jumps out. Preds are just full of a lot of meh to me. You could probably get 3-4 pieces our of them but I don't think it be exciting at all.
  5. I don't think this is going to make it to the 11th.
  6. I'm not sure what the question is? I think there should be mutual interest between the Flames and Tkachuk to find the right trade partner. He would know where he is going before he puts pen to paper.
  7. If the goal is to maximize the talent return then New Jersey is really the best bet. Motivated team, cap room to do things and they have enough names i'm intrigued by that would likely give you a good return. Plus with their goalie and coaching situation it's not a sure thing that even with Tkachuk they'd be in the playoffs so could be some sneaky upside on a 1st rounder if it was in there. Blues likely give you the best piece in Kyrou but think Devils have give you 2-3 really promising pieces. As nice as it would be to prioritize center position in a Tkachuk trade I think it's going to be hard to do.
  8. I don't think it will be as Flames won't want it to drag on that long I don't think. I can imagine they want this done as soon as they can, just without sacrificing the return.
  9. I have a hard time seeing them getting both Nemec and Mercer. That's a pretty wild return. I just noticed that after they acquired Marino the Devils have 3 RS in Hamilton, Severson and Marion so Nemec would be 4. Now Severson is a FA next year but he wears an A and is honestly really good so trading him feels like the wrong move for a team wanting to win now. Again if there is truth they offered the 2OA pick for Tkachuk i'm sure they were told "not now we want to sign them both" but perhaps they've kept at it. Bit of reading between the lines but perhaps there is something there. Kind of aligns.
  10. The Flames should have no interest in Laine IMO. Aside from the fact they don't really have a player to get him the puck he is 1 year away from UFA. So your swapping one player who out leveraged you for another or you just doing to have to pay him a big deal and bring him over to a not very good situation for him (no playmaker). Not the direction they should go with this at all IMO.
  11. So interesting. it appears CESC wants to name the AHL teams the Calgary Wranglers and are taking steps to do so but they are getting opposition from Wrangler jeans.
  12. According to his agent, he does.
  13. If there is any truth to the rumor that the Devils offered the 2OA pick for Tkachuk than it would be logically to assume they would move Nimec. I'd want more but you could do a whole heck of a lot worse than getting him in trade. He'd be a very exciting add.
  14. Seem to me it boils down more to area code.....
  15. Until Tkachuk is dealt it doesn't' really make sense to be targeting FAs. Nor do I think any are lining up to come here unless the Flames overpay (which they shoudlnt)
  16. Well maybe. if they love the 2023 draft they may overrate their pick and underrate their prospect. I'm just saying I think its a trap to say we need a first round pick just to get one if it means the quality of the offer is lowered. For example St Louis may go something like Bolduc, Neighbours, 1st and and 2nd but maybe if you drop the 1st you get Kyrou and Neighbours. I'm down the latter all day long. but yes totally agree the direction here is to get some futures. All i'm saying is they should be open to whatever lands them the most and best assets and I think to do that you can't insist on a first rounder.
  17. What a steal though. I would have loved Niederreiter
  18. I think this is a trap the Flames need to avoid. Would it be great to get a pick sure but if teams value them too high are you prepared to take less in terms of assets just to get a pick? I sure wouldn't. This is exactly what got them into problems in 2013 they insisted they needed 1st round picks and wound up with a bunch of garbage outside of that. They shouldn't get tunnel vision on a first round pick if it means the other assets are lower. I get the lure of the "mystery box" that is a first round pick but the name of the game here as to be asset extraction.
  19. Whelp pretty unlikely we get a trade soon then.
  20. And on the flip side of that, if St Louis isn't offering Kyrou then they are out IMO. St Louis needs to be offering either Kyrou or Thomas (which they wont') and if they don't Flames move on.
  21. uncool..... VERY uncool...... 😉
  22. I get positional value and everything but if Kyrou is on the table he's a wicked add. Hard for me to picture the Flames getting a better piece than this. You would be hoping the prospects you acquire get to this level, let alone exceed it.
  23. No it doesn't matter where he wants to go but I think it's highly unlikely your going to get your best trade package from a team that has no chance of keeping him long term. Maybe but i seriously seriously doubt it. Dubas isn't going to give you Nylander for Tkachuk without knowing that Tkachuk wants to stay. It isn't about sending Tkachuk where he wants it's about maximizing your return. I believe strongly that the best way to do that is to send him to a place where he will extend.
  24. All of the rumors are that the primary motivation here is Tkachuk wants to be in the US. I don't think you'll see him go to a Canadian team. As i've said before the best way to maximize value here is to work with the team on a sign and trade, it's really the only way I see them getting a great return. I think part of this is the Flames should be very open to taking a bad contract in return if it maximizes the return. If St Louis wants to get rid of Tarasenko great, give him to us and the price will go up. Weaponize your cap space. If Dallas wants to dump Khudobin or even Benn i think you have to be open to that. Flames have a weapon now in their cap space and should 100% be using it to better their situation if they can.
  25. thank you. I’ve been keeping it ready for years 😂
