  1. Pretty powerful interview. Heck of amount of courage for him to do this https://www.tsn.ca/video/it-was-no-longer-my-word-against-everybody-elses~2307782
  2. So is the answer then to chalk it up to bad culture and move on? Personally I think this is huge driver of the problem. For far too long we've normalized sick and disgusting behavior because it's "part of the culture". Since when is sexual harassment or assault part of any productive culture in society? In reading this report perhaps if we sought to get rid of this culture this story could have come out sooner as it sure seems to me that the victims where silenced in part due to the culture. When it comes to incidents like this (sexual and abusive in nature), I don't give a Satoshi Nakamoto who gets fired. They don't deserve to be in professional sports, period, and the NHL should feel the same way.
  3. A Flames coach proactively managing a goalies workload? I am unfamiliar with this.....
  4. That's pathetic. So even though it's right in the report that he knew of the allegations in 2010 he is still trying to maintain he didn't know the full extent of them? That's brutal. The timing of this is also is pretty suspicious given I think it's likely Bowman could be fired soon anyway given the direction of the Hawks and the brutal Seth Jones trade.
  5. Not good stuff coming out here on Quenville either. Not only did he lied about them in the first place, looks like he wasn't exactly concerned about them either. I can't see how he comes out of this unscathed
  6. This is really troubling. How can you possibly give the option to a predator like this? It's really sad becuase I think many people in McDonough's shoes would have done the same thing because they believe that firing someone means they did their job and the individual is "punished". Meanwhile what they really did was just let a predator going undetected and inflict more damage. No regard for the bigger picture. This is where we have to do so much better as a society.
  7. Nice article and a little more insight here on Beck. Interesting to me is 67s have him mostly playing RW to start the season. https://calgarysun.com/sports/hockey/nhl/calgary-flames/a-hockey-legend-told-him-to-shoot-flames-prospect-jack-beck-is-listening
  8. They do but the way I see it is that they have a unique opportunity to get him some experience. As I mentioned I think it's a bit of a unique case where Francis is likely too good for Junior but stuck on a good depth chart in the AHL, with a really good opportunity waiting for him in Junior. The injury to Zary actually gives him an opportunity he would not have had before and the Flames are using it to give him some experience. I could be wrong, just the way I see it.
  9. As TD mentioned the try out agreement is for up to 25 Games. he would need to sign another to extend his stay or sign his ELC. I'm not positive on the CHL rules but I don't believe there would be any issues there as Francis is already property of Saint John. Pretty sure the CHL is the same rule as the NHL where in order to play on the playoffs you have to be on the roster by the trade deadline. So no there really isn't a time limit here outside of the 25 games.
  10. I think the PP will have spurts throughout the year where they are good but overall i'm not seeing many good things out of that unit. The lack of a PP QB and good shooters I think is going to make it tough to be consistent. I'd expect them to finish in the bottom half of the league this year on the PP. But on the plus side, their PK is looking very, very good. That unit could be something this year. I think the Flames having something too in the Coleman-Backlund- Pitlick line. That line has some pretty good potential as a two way/shut down style line but between Coleman and Backlund can add some opportunistic scoring. They were fun to watch last night. Just got to find some other combos.
  11. Great response to the Ranger goal and nice job from Sutter to get his top line out and change the moment. Nice finish from Coleman who I’ve really liked in this game. Just makes so good decisions and plays
  12. Gudbranson has not been good in the game and he wasn’t on that goal. Can’t let 2 guys get that much space behind you.
  13. I strongly suspect that this is tied to Zary's injury.
  14. I have no idea who runs their social media but i'm confident to say whoever it is they are likely underpaid. They are top notch down there.
  15. This is why I'm thinking Francis is going to go back to junior at some point. In a season where they will be going to the Memorial Cup I don't think they would leave an over age spot open unless they have some level of assurance or belief Francis would come back.
  16. Not happy the lines aren't changing. Feel like lineup construction is holding the team back right now. But very happy to see Sutter didn't bench Valimaki in favor of Zadarov. He had a rough game but let the kid bounce back.
  17. Going to be interesting if this hot start puts him high on the Team Canada radar for the World Juniors. I doubt he makes it but interesting to see how much he gets in the conversation.
  18. Classic case of good results covering up a bad process. Not making changes to those forward lines is IMO a bad mistake by Sutter because right now the Flames are being 100% carried by their top line and most of the other new combos have been beaten up, especially the Mang-Dube -Ritchie line. They have been awful.
  19. to add to this, the Flames philosophy is to use the AHL team to build up their NHL prospects. They instruct their coaches to put the prospects in NHL situations and if it means they lose the game so be it. They are less concerned about the AHL team winning games than they are having their prospects develop. They want their young guys in keg situations, late in game situations, and learning at that level. Most of the older guys they bring in are for veteran presence and depth but it’s the young players and prospects who they lean on more. It’s a bit of a weird situation with him. He’s likely too good for junior and better served in the A but at the same time his team will be in the memorial cup so a great chance to lead and experience that plus Stockton is deep at forward. I like the idea of having him get some pro experience. my guess though is he’ll go back to junior when Zary is healthy
  20. Hard to draw up a better pro career start than this. Pelletier leading the team in scoring and being 14th on the AHL is up there too. very early obviously but nice to see them having success right away
  21. I will be surprised if the Flames can get it to start with a 7. I feel like the AAV will land in the 8 range on a long term deal. maybe taking on the 8th year could get it into the 7s but also very debatable if that’s a smart play or not.
  22. These lines are really making it challenging for the Flames to generate consistent offense.
  23. I think you gotta mix up the forward lines. Outside of the top line the line combos they’ve been using the last 2 games don’t make sense to me.
  24. Not a great period from the Flames but you also need saves. All of these goals have been stoppable.
