I have to give Huska some credit at this point. When they buy in they can be one of the toughest team to play against.Â
-
What a great push there! This team plays so well against the top teamsâŚexcept for Florida and Carolina and Colorado but everyone else can get itÂ

I wonder if the team is feeling the effects of all the off-ice distractions with the impending trade(s).
Kind of deflating, but at the same time it was expected.Â
Â
The team was looking deflated until Ygor scored. I donât think the Markstrom rumours and imminent Hanifin trade are helping things. Weâll see just who takes the helm with the ânext man upâ state the Flames find themselves in. Should be an interesting upcoming week!

Markstrom without Tanev. Â
Reminds me of the 2nd round of the playoffs.
If you trade your best defensive defenseman, are you not tanking?
This trade has more to do with asset management than tanking, if we flip Markstrom as well than indeed itâs a tank job but I believe the organization still believes playoffs are attainable this year. Â I do think the Flames are better defensively under Huskaâs zone system so hopefully losing Tanev doesnât disrupt that too much.Â
-
Nice trade for Tanev, heâs a warrior but the guys turning 35 and a UFA so glad we got some futures and a prospect for him. I trust Conroy enough to know heâs not getting fleeced, heâs carefully weighing these offers and returns. Hanifin will be an interesting one, heâs getting us back another 1st rounder at the very least, I donât think the Flames move Markstrom âŚthey arenât tanking on the season just yetÂ
-
Not a great trade by Conroy but Iâll assume this was the best offer available. It must have been a pretty toxic situation if we couldnât wait until closer to the trade deadline where teams tend to overpay. Conroy sitting at around a C- so far for me. Weâll see what becomes of the cap space and picks I guessÂ

Gonna start looking up the top draft prospects for next year, looks like itâs all this team has to look forward to

This game is almost unwatchable so far.
The team is worse then we thought.Â

We are drafting top 5 next yearÂ

How long do they give Huska?

Keep seeing that NYR are actively shopping Lafreniere.Â
Thoughts on cost acquisition?Â
I wouldn't mind picking up the former 1st OA.

I would go Hanifin for himÂ
I don't know if we'd have to add.
Â
maybe doÂ
Â
Lafrenier + a pick
for
Lindholm
Â
?
It would be an interesting swap. Hanifin is proven and still young , Lafrenier is still finding his way in the NHL.Â
ÂHuberdeau -Lafranier-PelletierÂ
Kadri-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Â
It could be a startâŚI think we get a better player back than Lafrenier for Hanifin tbh.Â
Â
Been months since Iâve posted on hereâŚthe team is even more of a mess than when I left! Happy Summer and Canada Day (belated) to everyone. Looks like our Flames need some work!Â

From what I got out of this it was not a Sutter over Trevling decision, it was BT is mentally and Physically done. Unless you have been in a GM role you have no Fing idea how taxing it is on the body and health. There isn't one factor where he would have made this decision its a collection of emotions good and bad for 9 years of an emotional roller coaster it's just a combination of millions of things, trust me it takes its toll physically and mentally.  His time here has expired, from what I got out of this, the club and owners offered and he turned it down, I get it. There is nothing and I mean nothing that is more liberating and freeing than what Trevling did by walking away. I would bet when he did it was like the world was lifted off his shoulders. He will be back at some time but I don't think he bailed here to go elsewhere. Appreciate his time and wish him the best moving forward.Â
Â
With the rest of we are not done. Sutter isn't clear yet. Maloney having been involved with the exit meetings its all going to depend on how the notes align. IMHO, Bean is well-spoken and gets it. Take the information and process it. analysis and then base your decision on what the vision was, and who was ultimately responsible for their part. I can see a process where Sutter is returning with lots of caveats moving forward, he will be on a short leash in that they will have a list of here is what needs to change and they will hold him to it. Nobody is and I mean nobody is immune to what happened this year. Who knows Sutter may do what Trevling did and go yeah this isn't what I signed up for or I am not on board with, I am out. Buckle up we are only just getting started.Â
If BT has essentially dialed out from being mentally, emotionally drained thatâs a tell tale sign of the toxic environment he had to operate under. GM role is taxing , exhausting and stressful but it can also be very thrilling , rewarding and fun. If BT was finding it was no longer fun or he was losing his passion of being the GM of the Calgary Flames thatâs indicative of the ppl heâs ultimately working for..the owners. Im
sure BT still loves hockey and the GM position , just not with the Calgary Flames. Same way Gaudreau and Tkachuk didnât want to continue their careers as Calgary Flames. These are elite players and high quality management all opting to leave this organization within less than a year. Thereâs toxicity within this organization and it sure ainât creosote!

Rock bottom is fine man. Between a rock and a hard place is the worst... Forever 5 points out of a playoff spot and never a lotto team that can draft a franchise altering talent...
Truly wonât be rock bottom and full reset until thereâs new owners. This should be as close as we getâŚbut you know theyâll be preaching how this team is âknocking at the doorâ! A rebuild isnât what Huberdeau, Markstrom, Kadri or Weegar signed up for so expect another quick âretoolingâ. Lost its 2 biggest stars this summer as they didnât believe in this organization, when your playoff trend is still âin one year, miss the nextâ itâs easy to see why. No new arena deal, a divisive coach and a toxic ownership group. It sounds like we have some work to do here

i have no idea (well sorry actually 1) how the Flames can possibly let Sutter return next year.Â
Â
Â
Sutter will be back đŻ. He got what he wanted with BT gone. The Calgary Flames are more of a disaster than any of us could have seen. This entire Apple is rotted from top down through to its coreÂ
-
Pretty disappointed to see BT leave. Sure he had his moments but he was a more capable GM than most. Atleast he made Free Agency and Trade Deadline exciting again. Get ready for quieter times. Clearly this organization is struggling, you donât just walk away from an NHL GM position without good reason. So now the focus of our problems becomes the Owners. The one constant. Personally I have no idea about candidates for this GM position. Maloney doesnât instill great confidence, he just feels like heâs semi retired here. The vibe around this organization stinks right now, we are legit heading towards rock bottom

they're going to win the cup this year
Â
they got their defensive d to put them over. Now they're going to win.Â
Âi don't want them to, but at the deadline I was like, great, that's probably THE piece. Their Ville Nieminen.
Â
we had D at the time, but no Satoshi Nakamoto Disturber. They needed D...
This makes me absolutely disgusted to say but youâre probably right đ¤˘! The coaching for the Oilers has made a complete difference, they no longer bleed goals. They seem to score at will, their PP is near guaranteed to score and they somehow have solid goaltending.  Three 100 pts scorers, career years for most players across the board, they look the partâŚfinally! However playoffs is a different beast. Iâm hoping for a classic Oilers 1st Rd exit but they could legit win it this year đ¤ŽÂ

This is pretty much the end I dreaded but knew was the likely outcome, Flames go on a useless push only to fall short a few points. And here we areâŚright back to purgatory, another middling season, already putting the weight on kids like Wolf, Coronato, Pelletier because theyâre all we have moving forward. This team has a lot of issues that need to be addressed this off season. What team puts up so many useless shots only to lose games to the point it becomes their identity? That was essentially our blueprint. Tough year to watch, seemed the negatives outweighed the good stuff this year. Itâs been another pleasure watching this unfortunate season with you Flames fans! On to the off-season !
-
Final game of what was a painful season! Nice to see Wolf and Coronato get a look. The fact weâre still struggling against the Sharks reminds me how we were not an entertaining team to watch at all this season.Â
-
OTL shootout loss. A predictable way to end the season. Stick a fork in em!!
-
Itâs been hard to believe in this team as they really havenât been convincing all season. This little push for the playoffs is cute but I still donât believe the Flames are playoff worthy. If BT sticks around itâll be interesting to see what we do with our 1st rd pick. The inability to get a lead and maintain it, the inconsistency, constantly chasing the game. Itâs exactly how we played with Wardo at the helm. Sutter was here to correct that but he may have already lost the room. Is it the players? Coaches? Iâm sure itâs a mix of both, just always seems to be the case here. What next?!
-
See you guys next season!
-
Can you actually imagine this team in the playoffs??Â

well, they tied it at least. Like always, we like to have our backs to the walls.ÂIndeed they did but like u said they need to be up against it to play inspired hockey. So back to chasing the lead we go! Â IF they make the post season itâs already a recipe for disaster. If they lose to this Hawks team itâs exactly why weâre on the outside looking in. Lost far too many winnable games this year.Â
