I've always been annoyed that he's a little too soft and not always engaged. This year has been night and day imho. There's more edge to his game now. What a difference. Even his penalties I'm good with. The aggression gene has kicked in and Backlund's playing like a leader. Loving whatever has gotten into him. I think he's the heartbeat of the team. Such a nice window guys like Mangia and Kyl have shattered, but Backlund is driving this bus, and he's not smiling for the camaras at last. He's evolved into a great leader.
