Just thought I'd throw out a few interesting factoids just for fun, in the form of top five lists.  These are based on stats, but feel free to throw your own top 5s out there too.

Here we go:

Goals/60: Rinaldo (1.21), Mangiapane (1.07), Lindholm (1.03), Robinson (1.02), Bennett (0.89)

Assists/60: Backlund (1.26), Tkachuk (1.21), Ryan (1.14), Gaudreau (1.08), Dube (1.03)

Points/60: Rinaldo (2.02), Tkachuk (1.94), Mangiapane (1.91), Lindholm (1.85), Ryan (1.79)

Scoring Chances/60: Robinson (11.27), Mangiapane (9.78), Rieder (9.15), Monahan (9.03), Tkachuk (8.5)

High Danger Chances/60: Robinson (6.15), Rieder (4.9), Mangiapane (4.51), Tkachuk (4.49), Quinn (4.12)

PIM/60: Rinaldo (12.94), Robinson (7.17), Bennett (3.11), Quine (2.75), Anderson (2.27)

Penalties Drawn/60: Rinaldo (2.02), Mangiapane (1.22), Tkachuk (1.21), Rieder (1.03), Bennett (0.78)

Giveaways/60: Tkachuk (4.08), Gaudreau (2.99), Davidson (2.89), Backlund (2.85), Hanifin (2.66)

Takeaways/60: Czarnik (5.13), Jankowski (3.39), Backlund (2.79), Mangiapane (2.75), Tkachuk (2.28)

Hits/60: Rinaldo (25.88), Yelesin (16.08), Lucic (13.89), Robinson (13.31), Bennett (10.1)

Some interesting observations:

-Rinaldo shows up better than expected on this list.  Probably largely due to relatively small sample sizes

-Mangiapane is pretty great.  Tkachuk is pretty darn good too.

-Gaudreau and Monahan barely show up here.

Maybe we should send Gaudreau and Monahan down to Stockton and replace them with Rinaldo and Robinson?

Or, advanced stats are flawed if relying on them solely to draw conclusions.

I don't mind if the community trots out numbers occasionally, but I sometimes get annoyed when some try to draw hard line conclusions based on these numbers, particularly when there is very little difference between them and the level of competition is never considered. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you are doing that, I'm just looking at the top 5 in each area and saying "Hugh".

For sure, this was just a sort of fun thing for me.  No way Rinaldo is our best player, or Mony and Johnny our worst.  To me, this is kind of showing the strengths and flaws of advanced stats, as it’s impossible to capture all aspects of the game in numbers.  Sample sizes, line mates, usage, etc all play a huge role.  So to me, the main observations that are worthwhile is the excellent play of Mang and Tkachuk this season, and that Mony and Johnny are having off seasons as they should be showing up a bit more than they do.

I concur.
