cross16
I've been having some fun with this so thought I'd open up a "challenge" sort to speak to see if anyone else was interested in sharing their teams. CapFriendly has a tool whre you can draft your own Vegas team. https://www.capfriendly.com/expansion-draft. You can even select "Quick Protect" and it will protect people for you based on the majority of selections. I made a few assumptions in mind: Anaheim - Bieksa will waive and they will go 7-3-1 Flames expose Brouwer Columbus - Hartnell waives NMC but isn't selected. Protect Josh Andrson Pominville waives in Minny. Fleury wavies in Piitsburgh Dustin Brown - Vladislv Namestinikov - Craig Smith Yakupov - Darren Helm - Michael Grabner Adam Lowry - Zack Smith - Devante Smith-Pelly Joakim Nordstrom - Stajan - Dorsett Rocco Grimaldi Kerby Rychel Nick Cousins Jack Johnson - Jonas Brodin Brenden Dillon - Kevin Millar Calvin De Hann - Mark Pysyk Josh Manson Luke Schenn, Jordi Benn, Ville Pokka, Jamie Oleksiak, Griffen Reinhart MAF Phillip Grabauer Linus Ulmark Definitely heavy D but that should give Vegas some good trade assets. Yakupov I figure why not? Cap hit is around 54 million.
Flyerfan52
I doubt the Jets let Lowry go unprotected. Insert Perreault, Armia, Copp or Dano if they go 8-1. If not Myers is gone but the dark horse selection is Chairot. Why pick Yakupov when St. L isn't going to protect him? Pick a Blues player & sign Yak cheap as nobody else will. What does LA give to get McPhee to take Brown? Better be a 1st as there will be better there. Caps can trade Grubauer. Bellemare > Cousins. I agree with the Stajan over Brouwer from Calgary pick. We all have opinions so I just commented on the most obvious.
cross16
Yakupov is an RFA so that's why I took him. St. Louis doesn't have a ton of options when you look at their team once it's protected.

He cross, I think you should check your selections again, aren't there quite a few young players that you chose (like Reinhart, Pokka, etc), exempt from the ED thanks to the 40/70 GP Requirement? Or did I read that wrong? Nevertheless, I'm having trouble choosing players from some teams, because you never know whats going to happen before the ED. The 40/70 rule doesn't make a player exempt it has to do with exposure. Teams are required to expose at least 1 forward and 1 dman under contract for next year that meets that requirement. Now I have to review every team again

LV could get 1 of them on D & probably get Yak cheap as the only 1 offerring a contract since St. L has no intention of trying that experiment again. manu11
Finally it's done. I made some pretty bold assumptions who probably aren't very realistic, but its' just for fun. After the ED the Las Vegas has a cap hit of &68,5m including the already signed Shipachyov! Firts some possible moves before the ED: - Pominville & MAF waive their NMC - Anaheim trades Sami Vatanen to Boston for Ryan Spooner and a 2017 2nd (Spooner will be protected) - Calgary trades their 2017 1st and Rasmus Andersson to Colorado for Semyon Varlamov and their 2017 2nd - Columbus trades Ryan Murray to New Jersey for John Merrill and their 2017 2nd Roster Las Vegas Golden Knights: Mike Cammalleri - Vadim Shipachyov - Justin Abdelkader Colin WIlson - Mathieu Perreault - Jannik Hansen Vladislav Namestnikov - William Karlsson - Michael Grabner Dmitrij Jaskin - Matt Stajan - Derek Dorsett Joakim Nordstrom Eric Fehr Nic Dowd Rocco Grimaldi Scott Laughton Marc Methot - Matt Dumba Calvin DeHaan - Kevin Miller Alex Petrovic - Cody Franson Josh Manson Trevor van Riemsdyk Brandon Davidson Jamie Oleksiak Griffin Reinhart Marc Andre Fleury Philipp Grubauer Louis Domingue That's not that bad of a lineup and you have some nice trade chips. The biggest one would be Methot who could bring a nice return. Whoever gets the most out of Namestnikov, Karlsson and Dowd could also be traded. And they have some nice bottom D that teams could be interested in.

Even if so Gunnarsson or Edmonson are still better options than Yak as the pick from St. L. Hutton is also an option if they intend to load up on goalies. cross16
With the list finalized I ran thorugh this again for fun. I assumed 3 things. 1. Manson and Vatanen are off limits 2. Jack Johnson, Josh Anderson and Korpisolo are off limits 3. Cizikas, Bailey and NIlsson are off limits in NYI. Jaskin - Eakin - R. Smith Nordstrom - Karlsson - Colton Sissons Oscar LIndberg - Grigorenko - Derek Dorsett JT Brown- Dano - Logan Shaw Shinkaruk - Rychel Methot - Dumba De Haan - Colin Miller McNabb - TvR Brenden Dillon - Brandon Davidson Jon Merril - Griffen Reinhart TJ Brennen - Xavier Ouellet MAF Grubauer L. Dominque Linus Ulmark Lots of trade bait but some good future assets there. Vegas will be off to a good start.
JTech780
Neal - Eakin - R.Smith Kulemin - Karlsson - Stempniak Dano - Krueger - Read Paquette - Wagner - Jaskin Grigorenko Shinkaruk Rychel Hudon Methot - Dumba Dillon - C. Miller Sbisa - Schmidt McNabb Merrill Reinhart Ouellet Fluery Raanta Domingue Ullmark I went with the current rumors which were, that Pittsburgh has a trade for Vegas to take Fleury. Columbus has a trade to for Vegas to not take Johnson, Korpisalo and Anderson. Islanders have a trade where Vegas takes Kulemin. Tampa has a trade for Vegas to not pick one of their young defensemen. Anaheim has a trade where Vegas doesn't pick Manson or Vatanen.
