Dale Hunter Resigns

Dale Hunter has stepped down as coach of the Washington Capitals.

He was initially signed as an interim coach, and rumours were heavy that it might not matter how well the Caps do, he won't re-sign.

I'm starting to see the media on the "Hunter-Ovechkin controversy".

There is no controversy.

Hunter left because he has built a dynasty in London with the Knights.

It's what the Hunter family is doing these days.

If they won the cup, I don't think it would have mattered.

Dale Hunter is one of the stand-up guys in hockey today. He's respectful and is never an applehole like coaches can be this time of year.

He's bringing kids up through hockey in London, he is giving back to the community, the whole family is.

It isn't fair to him, at all, to start on the, "Could Hunter have lasted a whole year with Ovechkin" crap the media starts spinning.

So be well Dale Hunter, you're doing more for hockey in SW Ont then most are doing anywhere else.

Always a gentleman, and a pillar and icon in his community.

Gave the Caps an extra 500,000 fans imho, because of who HE is.

Thanks Dale, from a respectful hockey fan.

Yeah, i don't think anyone will be taking that angle seriously.

Most can see through that sensationalism.. (actually probably giving the average fan too much credit heh heh).

Right from the point he was hired, he came across in that initial interview as 'I'm doing the Caps and McPhee a favor here'...

Not a surprise to Caps fan.
