kutarna
Definitely draft him! He's my second cousin. Haha.
cross16
This may be irrelevant, because as far as I know Joel Broda did not go drafted. But no I would not. IMO, Broda is the type of player who will light up lower leages, and struggle in the show. He is not a great skater, nor a great playmaker. He produces a ton of points becuase he does have an NHL calibre shot. The problem is its much, much easier to get open in the CHL than the NHL. He has the size, but isn't an overly physical player so I think he would struggle at the next level becuase the only skill he gives you is his shot but he's got to get open in order to do that. I'd give him an AHL contract to see if he can work on his foot speed, but other than that I don't believe he is worth one of your contracts becuase I think his ability to get to the NHL is in question. thymebalm
Though, keep in mind many players crack the NHL undrafted. If cross has the right assessment, he may have to do things the hard way.
thymebalm
Also, you don't want to draft anyone Born before 1992 (or late 1991). Most 20 year olds playing in that league have inflated numbers. Scouts are looking for the young guy that can compete against the older players, not vice-versa.
JTech780
Broda was drafted in 2008 by Washington 144th overall, they didn't come to terms so Broda opted to become a undrafted free agent.
TrickRider
Definitely draft him! He's my second cousin. Haha. Wow! What a coincidence. I would really like to see him in the NHL. He's been great playing for the Hitmen.
yomer
I was looking through the Wild's site, and saw that Broda was invited to their prospect camp. So that basically squashes the chance that he would come here
JTech780
The Wild signed him to a three year deal.
