Both teams played last night. Flames defeat DAL, while ARI defeated COL. Markstrom pulled last night after 2 periods. Vladar had a very light workout, only 5 shots.

I'm of the same opinion. He can look really good and bad in the same game. If it wasn't for his early struggles, we wouldn't have Kylington up.

I think Backlund is a shadow of last and previous years. Are we really surprised that Mange and Coleman are not consistently scoring? On the road, they are rolling lines and Mange can sometimes find the quiet spaces. At home, Backlund is facing good lines and Mange has to concentrate on defense. Not really sure how to fix it.

The pizzas are the problems that overshadow the things he does do well. He has a decent shot. He's hard to stop on zone entries. He can defend the home plate. He will defend his team. Overall, not a bad guy to have. Penalties aside, he might be a piece we need for the playoffs. Slower game, more physical. Less penalties called.

Carroll did, after passing through the previous draft unpicked. Was he worth a 7th? Perhaps. Compared to recent late picks, not so much. But maybe that is in hindsight.

I am liking what he is bringing to the game. He doesn't look like a deer in headlights. The skill is there just below the surface and you can see it bubbling up. The goal he started and finished previously. The play on the Lewis goal. He's got wheels to get chances on the rush. I know it's early, but I think he is showing what is expected of him to stay in the roster. He has another gear (I expect) once he gets confidence in his ability to play at this level. Coaching will help.

I think that Burkie's stated mandate was to be gritty. Those 3 were exactly of that mold but were not exactly big producers. Carroll was an overager, and even then was less than great.

Backlund was bad on the dot. Ruzie was facing top C. Monahan and Lindy won 50% or over each. I don't think there is a need to bring in Richardson. He does win draws but that is it. Finally getting some chemistry and scoring for 4th line. Ritchie still 0-0 for the season. He was less of a negative player, but his shots are tune-ups only for the goalies.

Don't worry about it. I was giving the Gears to RobRob for saying game over. LOL. I never felt we were out of it, down by 2. Another goal for them and we would have been toast. We were building up for the scoring by pushing back. Ritchie swapped with Lucic. Monahan-Dube looked okat and were generating chances. Ruzie with Lewis and Lucic were getting zone time and chances. Allowed Mangiapane amd Gaudreau to get more space from wearing them down.

It was a goalie change that you should do. Team is hitting posts but not generating much. Like a time out, but really it means the team has to re-adjust to a new goalie. Make it easy on him. Cue the comeback. You need to maintain defense, but you go all out to score. The Flames dominate the period and get that first goal. The 2nd is easier. The GWG is all about smart plays and accurate passing, which we almost never see unless it's a 3 on 1. Sutter can go either direction in nets in ARI. Marky is rested. Vladar showed his stuff but only faced 5 shots.

Cardiac Kids could do it, but needed to. Had to come back a lot.
