  1. No big surprise.... Sportsnet @Sportsnet · 2h Matt Coronato has decided to return for one more year of college hockey instead of joining the Flames. But the club’s most prized prospects made it clear he will not playing anywhere other than Calgary when he’s ready to make the jump. @EricFrancis) https://sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/flames-support-prospect-matt-coronatos-decision-to-return-to-harvard/
  2. I liked Rittich, but he was getting too expensive for what we needed, which was a backup. He wants to be at least a 1B. Other than maybe one or two games, Vladar has been solid. I can't really blame him for the VAN game either. The team was crap. Sure, he could have looked a little better, but it was really a one off.
  3. Another way to look at it: I believe playoff magic number down to 5.0 That is any combination of CGY wins and Vegas losses = 5 Division clincher down to 8.5. That is any combination of CGY wins and EDM losses = 8.5 (OTL or SOL = 0.5).
  4. Saros is about the best comp I could find for Wolfie. Smaller goalie. Nash was able to use him gingerly to start. Full year in the AHL, then 15 games in the AHL his 2nd year. There is no rush to bring him in, but ideally he makes his debut while Marky is still the starter with 60 games played. Next year will be interesting. It looks like Vladar is waiver eligible, so we would need to carry 3 goalies if we want to start Wolf. I don't see that happening. We only have a small sample size of Vladar, so we may be looking at a Demko like player or a Rittich. Or a Gillies. With that, I suggest that we only we only worry about using Wof if we find Vladar can't even be relied upon as a backup.
  5. 2 games on the roadie down, 4 points. 2 games remaining.... I believe playoff magic number down to 5.0 Division clincher down to 8.5.
  6. Hope Tanev doesn't lose any teeth. Markstrom will need to black out one from his mask.
  7. Gaudreau was unselfish there. Could have gone for the goal.
  8. Smart, get the Ducks to freeze the puck. They use their timeout starting from their D-zone.
  9. Now you have me thinking of Eggs Benny. With waffles.
  10. Typical Ducks hockey. We get all the calls. The too many men is way up there with a poor change. Annoying AF
  11. Stoney.... Stage 3 complete. Begin Stage 4.
  12. Henrique would have looked good with Mange. Too expensive though.
  13. Tkachuk behind the net? Butt check and nothing. Johnny behind the net? Magic.
  14. You were calling for them to lose Harry Sateri as well? Hehe
  15. I can see another night that I don't win a million.
  16. Just don't bring any of that Big Smoke collapse to the team. I can deal with the loss of a shutout.
  17. Well, I am happy that Mange and Toffee were in on a goal. Backlund was the firestarter, but really had nothing to do with the finish. Coleman is getting the chances. Between Ruzie and Coles, they have 5 shots tonight. I get it though. There were 3-4 cold players. If you ain't scoring, then play defense. Doesn't hurt the team for GA. Watch the games though and you probably can see why they are cold. Coleman manufactures out of nothing, so defense to offense works for him. Mange needs to be forechecking to generate, and if you are one and done from a bad pass, there nothing there.
  18. Yep, it's alway trying to get that next goal, whether it's 0-0, 1-0, 0-1, 1-1, 2-1....
  19. Stage 2 Complete Begin Stage 3. I might have to switch to phases. Just about ran out of stages in the EDM game. Imagine that, a Flames-Oilers series and we beat them 9-2. Sweep 4-0. The fans would never show up in CGY again.
  20. He's there for the one-tmer, but that takes it from Lindy. I think Mange would be a better idea. Saying that, Toffee does have 4 PPG in his time here and 7 PPP. The 2nd unit sucks due to Backlund being on it.
