  1. I was thinking that the play was called evenly to start. No Flames lead yet I guess. Lew and Archie battle and we get th call. Whatever, let's kill it.
  2. Bieksa talking about the hold of Ras's stick that he was dragging Ras on his back. What a joke.
  3. SN really hyping the McDavid show. Hammer him into the boards early on. Get him off his game a bit. No free passes to the net. No mistakes tonight. 3 cost us 3 last game.
  4. Sounds like they shifted Guddy and Stone. Kylington to play with Guddy and Stone with Zaddy.
  5. Props for RD and his GDT's. Game a little early for you. LOL 6PM MDT start, so I suspect it's something like 1AM there. Enjoy, hope you don't have to work in the morning.
  6. Nice save, LOL. Both are vets. Both have called series one sided and been out the next series. As Sutter put it, the best NHL teams remain as do the best officials. What is funny is that some were swapped with East officials. What was not called in the East was called n the West. There really isn't nor should be, comments directly about refs. The teams both meet with director of officials before each game. Would love to be a fly on the wall during that. One would think that a PP parade is exactly what the Oilers want. They whined about McD not drawing calls in regular season. The media joined the whine. This isn't a direct result, but needs spring cleaning. Don't get me wrong, a lot of cheap stuff is overlooked. But the quality of the calls is so bad. Missed calls on the PP that would results in a 5v3. 2 in the same game, one being a dive call to negate it. The other being a missed cross check where the evidence was on the ice. Kozari has been involved in a lot of Flames playoff exits. He normaly exits the playoffs right after those series. 7. These 4 bozos from the last 2 games may have reffed their last games in the playoffs. I've got no problem with picking a player out of a scrum, but 3? It's garbage. Whether we like it or not, we see game management happening. COL-STL had 8 penalties over 2 games. Not just PP's but penalties. 5 in a game was a lot for game 3. I really don't think we played any dirties than either of those teams.
  8. FLA had momentum and Bennett took a dumb O-zone penalty. It happens, but it took away all that FLA had just built. No reason for it, as it was just TBL about to escape their zone and not a scoring chance even remotely. I would rather had TO against FLA in this round, but TBL just lurks in the weeds waiting to take over. Let's do everything we can to ensure a Sutter rematch against the Bolts. I don't even care if we got swept or took it to game 7. That's the rematch of the century.
  9. If we can keep McPoints off the scoreboard, some of us stand a chance. Bennett and his dumb momentum killing penalties cost FLA a goal today. On a side note, I like the way TNT uses graphics. Shows the PP time remaining right on the ice. And shows shift time for a team hemmed in. SN is so 90's in their coverage. The reason why some players get open is the things done by other players. Or the little picks done that the refs miss. Never a comment about an illegal play.
  10. Dwyer and St. Laurent tonights refs. Dwyer did the Pens game 7 and St. Laurent did our game 7. Don't see our game 1 or 2 refs listed anywhere. That happens. As Sutter put it, you get the best refs as the number of teams gets cut in half. Or at least that's what he said he expects. May be readong too much into it, but they sometimes take a stance after poor showings. O'Rourke has done the most games. Anyway, enough about fing reffing. Stay out of the box by using clean hits. Don't give them the chance to make it 4v4. Even a PP opens up ice for them if we make mistakes. Sutter hates 4v4. The box on the PK helps us, but opens up momentum coming out of it. Stay within the play. Okay to push and shove, but no punches after the whistle. Take a punch, because they will call the 2nd one. Just give a Satoshi Nakamoto-eating grin when they try to act tough.
  11. I rewatched the Keith goal during SN's coverage before the AVS game. They didn't at all talk about McD having hold of Ras's stick. Anyone watching that would think it was a legal play, because the ref ignored it. It was so obvious that Ras was unable to do anything to the puck carrier or the guy he passed to. Come on NHL, be better. It was a 2-0 game before this. Not that it means anything to the final score, but it sure started a bunch of crap calls.
  12. I'm still a little confused on this call: High-Sticking is the name of an infraction when a player accidentally, or intentionally, makes contact with an opposing player above his shoulders. This typically takes place when two players are battling for a puck, one gains possession of it, and the opposing player will try to take it away via a stick-lift. Sometimes the stick-lift will miss and make contact with a player’s head. Following that, a High-Sticking penalty will be called.
  13. Before the refs took the game over, the Flames were playing well at 5v5. Outshooting them, etc. Two things stood out that alterered the course of the game. The first was allowing a player to hold onto a stick and create a goal. The 2nd was weak dive call. That set up a PP because instead of taking Lindy and Keith, they picked one. I get it, you want to even up the calls, but punish one team in the process. No warning, they just started picking an extra player. You know it's bad when the refs have to review their own calls for when they blew the whisle. How do you need to review it, if you made the call? It seemed like we were quite capable at winning the game before the nonsense started. Rolling lines, playing hard. Refs seemed to think that it was getting out of hand. But it seemed like mostly just playoff hockey. Perhaps they felt game 1 was too much hitting and needed to rein it in. It's just another game 2 loss. Not like we have won a game 2 this decade. Play the way we started game 1 and we will be fine. Score first, put the pressure on the Oilers in front of their fans.
  14. We were playing a 3-1 game for too long. You have to get a 4th one or be able to not take penalties. We were fine on the PK, but it takes the toll on the players. Ruins the non-PK players time. Takes Backlund and Lindholm out of the game. Same with Mangiapane. You just knew that the penaties would be called until it was tied. After that, they revert to normal play call. Can we get the refs from the Dallas series? At least they were reasonable.
  15. Toffoli scored on the PP and got another one that was actually called back. But, I think there may be another thing that creates a problem. Too many RHS on one unit.
  16. Still a few players not willing to do everything it takes. Hanifin walked the slapper from Bouchard. Others letting a guy walk past them. Zaddy not taking the player and just leisurely skating back with Draisaitl moving N/S. It's not like the Oilers took over the game. We had so many penalties called that there was no flow. We get a PP and have no sense of how to play it. Last one was in the 2nd or 1st period. Can't have Gaudreau sitting on the bench for minutes at a time. Nothing against Stone, but he's not the fleetest of foot. He's at times hanging Kyler out to dry. Hey, I'm not making excuses or saying we are perfect. It's a game we should have had in the bag.
  17. The shortie killed it for us. Trying to pass into or through crowds. No wonder Ras had no chance to collect it. I don't think it's the best idea to use him high like that. Just me, but you do that when you have another D at the point.
  18. We scored on our 2nd PP. They score on the 4 minute one, technically their 4th. The refs gave us back the PPs in the 3rd. Mind you, the blown icing call put it out of reach.
  19. Last series, they haul off two guys, this game they pull 3. Kozari is a joke of a ref. Probably his last game (we hope). The game was there, but the stripes decided it needed some help in deciding it.
  20. Baa, they won one. Sure took them a lot of PP's to score one goal. 1 for 10.
