  1. What is with Kadri and Hubey doing the weak Hash Rate back pass to the blue line.
  2. Gotta get through the PP first. Benching Backlund and Coleman and Mangiapane for not scoring a shortie
  3. Unfortunate to watch Kadri wheeling and dealing and Lucic is your only option. I see a couple guys out there that are playing a high enough level to help that line
  4. He left them on for an extended set. Close to 90 secinds over the whistles.
  5. Rough shifts for the FLA boys. First Weegar, then Hibey. Come on guys, you can't be doing that with a fast team
  6. 1 for 5 on PS's. He was a lot better on breakaways. More for the goalie to concentrate on
  7. Thanks for your narrow minded view of people. Sutter needs to put on his big boy pants if he wants to work in a NHL city with great interest in the team. Want to be funny? If you don't land the joke, then say never mind that wasn't a good one. The press hangs on his every word, since he says so little sometimes, so no wonder he is misunderstood. I have watched a ton of his pressers and there have been so few gems this year. Most of it is flushable. At the start of the year, he was a lot more professional and would explain things. It appears that he is losing it, and can't face the media now. BTW, please be careful what you say about gender. That is not appropriate here. It's your opinion about non-hockey things.
  8. Cherry picked stats often don't show the true picture. In the last 4 games played: Markstrom - 97 shots, 12 goals against, 9 1/3 periods of play, incl 1 OT loss (2 losses, 1 OTL and 1 no decision) Vladar - 97 shots, 9 goals against, 9 2/3 periods of play, incl 1 OT loss (3 wins 1 OTL for the 2/3 periods) Just looking at the pure stats doesn't allow you to draw any conclusions. When the goals against happen make a big difference. Down by 2 to NAS and by 3 to COL are tough games to win. A 3-1 lead by CHI seconds into the 2nd. Losing a 3-1 lead early in the 3rd. Giving up goals in the 3rd to two teams. Those are the easy observations. The why not so easy to answer. When a goalie has a better SA% and lower GAA, then they are playing better right now. In the last 4 games, Vladar has been the better of the two. Don't get me wrong, we need both of these guys having good seasons. I would tend to start Vladar against the lesser teams and bank the points. Throw in games where he has played against the competition well (Dallas, EDM, TOR). Give the tough starts to Markstrom against teams like Seattle, Vegas, Minny, WPG. We have to beat those teams with more than just a goalie battle.
  9. There are some issues with how the Flames play with Markstrom. Some mixups occur between him and the D. He likes it a certain way (keep sticks off puck?) and wants to play the puck a certain way behind the net. Perhaps the team is a little tighter, since Vladar doesn't get burned on breakaways as much. As well, I have noticed a tendency for Marky to lose the goal line battle. He's been pushed in or gets bumped and loses position easier. Some of those should be no goals. Perhaps some of the praise last year and some of the problems this year is not having 2 of the 6 D. The pairings seem unbalanced now. Or the team gets bogged down in the systems. Vladar is better at certain things and Marky is better at others.
  10. What I will miss the most is the exciting buzz that came with Gaudreau carrying the puck. Almost like the collective Dome was expecting to see a show stopper, again. I often wonder what we would have been like with both Gaudreau and Huberdeau on the same team. Wouldn't have Kadri and likely still would need to trade Monahan. When this team figures out how to play a defensive game while still being able to score more than 2 goals, it should be fun. Saying that we lost 2x40 goals scorers and we now have to play 3-2 games is a crock.
  11. Perhaps I took more offense than some fans, but I still feel he was giving the middle finger to the fans. May not have been his design, but some fans have been calling for AHL scorers like Phillips and Pelletier to get a chance. And when they do, we still get the "this is not the AHL" or the "needs to gain weight and strength" or the complete lack of discussion about the player. We get the "remember you experts last year telling me the same thing" and "5 minutes of 5v5 and some PP time". When the biggest story coming out of the win over Tampa is that the coach dismisses the player's impact and can't remember who the player was, then we have a media relations problem. Like it or not, the fans consume all the discussion and stories about the Flames, good and bad. And we have prospects in Calgary exposed to the same content. We have a dynamic unsigned prospect in the NCAA that may be looking at news about the team. This is the wrong type of story to feed the media.
  12. I always wonder what's actually in a Harvey burger. Tastes good, but they look like the old Alpo dog food patties that they sold in the 80/90's. With Sutter, there is no point in asking about who is in or who is out. Preferred last year's more honest answer though. He was a treat last year, this year just grumpy. It seems like Sutter is tired of talking about expectations, play of some players, need for improvement, scoring. Like it or not, the coach is the connection to the fans. Don't need to give away tradecraft, but stop feeding the media circus.
  13. Good to see he gets a 2nd game. Too bad that Ruzicka is the one that comes out. But, true to form, Sutter rarely changes a lineup after a win. That may be a good thing in this case.
  14. It's funny to say the least. Asked about his game against Tampa, he said he really only made a couple of saves. But you need to make those saves. I was thinking about a breakdown where he stopped a sure goal.
