  1. I think we should trade Vladar for Gibson. Add a prospect or pick. Then we run Gibson as the starter. Doesn't matter then if Markstrom sucks.
  2. I look at Backlund and see a guy that should be scoring 30 every year. He's always there. Always gets chances. Rarely scores. Did we just decide he is a 2 way player and forget to tell him he's allowed to go for it?
  3. Good to see Vladar outplayiing Markstrom. Easily could be a Ducks lead.
  4. Well, the Ducks aren't a dumb team. Weather the storm, let the Flames burn the candle out. Come back in the 2nd or 3rd.
  5. Missed an open net with Backlund. Point blank and Gibson makes a great save. Really we had the chance to put them away.
  6. Mangiapane-Lindholm-Toffoli Huberdeau-Backlund-Coleman Ritchie-Kadri-Dube Lucic-Lewis-Duehr Hanifin-Andersson Zadorov-Weegar Gilbert-Stecher Vladar What could possibly go wrong?
  7. Scratches per game sheet: Tanev (inj.), Pelletier and Ruzicka. #Flames
  8. They had the chance, but admittedly so Monahan was also the quiet guy. Tkachuk had changed a lot last year. Less me, more we. He took responsibility and said the thing we figured the room was thinking. Not saying he was the best choice, just a choice. Better than no choice. Not a young guy who hasn't earned anything other than name brand. Maybe Tanev was a better choice....for Vancouver. If you limit to drafted players, you have a short list. Players that will be here is 3-5 years? Shorter. Simply put, the coach feels if a player earns it, he will name them. That's going to be rough. Who earns it under Sutter?
  9. To be fair, wasn't that the emergence of 18 year old Sam Bennett TM ? And after getting Dougie, we still would draft high for 2 years. Missed on Barzal, but hit on Ras. Really the drafting of Tkachuk was the end of the rebuild.
  10. Perhaps had we named a C instead of just talking about cup wiinners, we might have had one last year and maybe they stay. When was the last C every traded the same year he's made one? Never? Tkachuk wasn't my first choice, but it's his pesty side that grated me. It's not the only thing he did. He, like Gaudreau, carried the team some games or dragged them into the fight. Who is left now that embodies those qualities that Gio and Iggy had? Backlund? He may be on his way out or on his way to being a lesser player. And what, we sign him to another 6 years?
  11. All I can say after watching the full one specific to Huberdeau (mostly full maybe - 5 minutes long) was WOW. That's some pretty harsh stuff, and I know they are sometimes shock jocks, but WOW. So, I guess some of the criticisms said by some here are shared by others outside the forum. It makes us look even more messed up. To the outside world. If any reporter asks him about it, expect a lot of hostility or pointing fingers.
  12. I can think of a few that have been dissed: Huberdeau Pelletier Kadri Vladar Dube Phillips Backlund (subtle) Zadorov Not dissed when pulled out: Lucic - needed to re-charge Duehr - get fresh bodies in Doesn't leave a lot of guys, but there have been indirect disses against all the top players on given nights.
  13. Glen Gawdin? Never mind, he was drafted, just not signed.
  14. I think we agree. When I watched him play with Bennett, it seemed very rush centric.
  15. I'm not sure where he was getting the info that some players do not want to come back with Sutter behind the bench. I can see some of the guys that regularly got sat. Or the ones called out that have short terms remaining. But if Kadri is talking like that or Huberdeau, the team will implode.
  16. Unfortunately, the video ends before Rhett opens his mouth, so I didn't hear much more than Boomer.
  17. Well, JH was not a 1st overall and did not play until 3 years after his draft year. He played one game. Then he was playing to start the season and they seriously considered sending him to the AHL. Gaudreau's last season in the NCAA was 2 points per game. His linemates weren't even top players. I was being funny that he would play the 4th line or get stuck in junior. But it also would not surprise me. If Sutter was here, Gaudreau would never had played a full season as a rookie. He likely would have earned a callup, but not out of camp. I will wait for the end of the season to see how we mess up draft order by winning meaningless games. SJS, ANA, CHI, VAN are all out of the playoffs and would only be playing us hard if we have any chance to make the playoffs. Once we are out, what do they care? If NAS is out by game 81, they won't bother playing us hard. Basically, we have to not lose any games left in March to have a chance.
  18. We gonna get 1st overall, so no worries about trading down. The bigger issue is forcing Bedard to play out the junior career cuz he's too small. The going to the AHL to get ready. Or play him on the 4th line until he ears more than 8 minutes.
  19. Tkachuk was not fast, he was good at holding the puck, making passes to a crazy good player and finishing. Gaudreau was fast reacting. But you see some differences between last and this year in play. More dump and chase. More shooting from all angles, while Gaudreau was more sneaky in his shot placement. I think we play low octane because the coach like measured play. Don't do anything outside the little circle of play. The F all have to be within 10 feet of each other. We have success on the rush, but barely use it.
