  1. I disagree. He might have had one, but collapsed defense does not allow much support. Columbus has been allowed way to much for high danger shots.
  2. As disciplined as the last game was, this one goes down the tubes.
  3. Have to say, this was one of the best overall games Calgary has put together Al season. Pelletier did a great job in his limited time , and did not look out of place at all! Vladar played a solid game. One could arguably fault him for the last goal, but I don’t. His goals against were a game of bounces. Lucic had more jump today, but will have to nap for a week!!🤣
  4. Gotta feel for Vladar. He has made some great saves, only to be the recipient of bad breaks.
  5. Totally agree, and I think you stated quite eloquently. I think Tre had a strategy in mind, and Sutter returned to coaching with the old school strategy of big and hard wins best. As a result, most of our drafting of skill and competitiveness goes out the window, because they don’t fit Sutter’s idea of what the team show be. The very fact that Lucic is playing the amount he is, as ineffective as he is demonstrates that with abundance. Where my greatest concern lies is in that we went through this experiment when Sutter was first coaching here, and it didn’t work then either. Great defence, with little scoring; which in turn, became a lot of 1 goal games, and eventually apathetic play and effort.
  6. Second period was a tough period, but Flames were in it all the way. Great push in the latter half, even if it didn’t get results. Colorado’s goalie has made some great saves! We have not. The difference right there.
  7. I disagree with your statement that Mangepane can’t be a top six forward. I think that he was misused during the first quarter by being bounced around from position to position and expected to do what he does best, and it showed. once he reconnected with Backlund, it allowed him to plant in the hard areas and get fed by Backs. He wasn’t expected to set up plays, but to finish them, which is more his forte. His possession numbers have improved and high danger shots as well. I think he will soon have a big game and open up a streak. He is too good and tenacious to lay down and die.
  8. Was that holding? Stone looked like he just pushed the guy down!
  9. I have to ask, did Calgary go home early?? I don’t see them on the ice!😳
  10. Walker Duehr is really settling in. Quite noticeable!! I really like Ruzie in the PP! His quick passing is creating good chances!
  11. Tell me why this would not have been a good game to inject some youth and exuberance into the lineup??
  12. And he should have scored at least 10 goals by now!!🤪
  13. Well, the positive’s are the flames did not look scattered, as they had been even 10-15 games ago. I saw more complete passing and some traffic in front( albeit not enough). Hubie is starting to shoot, yay! The lines seems to be connecting with each other better, and Markstrom is giving us pretty good tending. Calgary was in the game throughout, and was 2 goalposts short of winning.
  14. Had to be a flukey rebound that freezes Markstrom. Lots of phenomenal saves, and then the wonky bounce!
  15. Did I miss something? How was that holding on Andersson??
  16. Basically what I’m hearing is there’s a thousand reasons why players succeed on a team, and a thousand reasons why they don’t. The one constant is Sutter has a system he wants the players to work within. Image wise, it’s like playing within a fence. If you try to walk on the fence top, it’s 50/50 if you would be successful; but learn the system in the boundaries, you can play to your skill set all you want! It’s adapting your game to the demands of the system. Toffoli seems to have done that this year, but it took the past year to adjust. We may be seeing the same with the new players on the team.
  17. I thought the first 2 periods were some of Calgary’s more complete periods. They were in total control on ok and 5 on 5. They still looks like a work in progress, improving, but still in progress. Dube impressed me more every game! Tenacious!! Getting better along the boards.
  18. I guess I might have been misunderstood. I think Wolf has the bones to be an NHL goaltender, but at this moment, what’s the rush? He could do a couple of years developing in the farm, and only brought up if necessary. Too many times we rush a player, and then chew them out when their confidence gets shaken.
  19. But some have said that goalies start older because they take longer to develop. So isn’t Wolf’s success a positive at such a young age?
  20. So, the defense they played last night was a one off?! Calgary running around and being pushed around by the Kraken.
