I assume he's going to end up beating Gibson of the trophy (barring any injuries ect), Are the awards determined with the play offs in mind, or it for the overall regular season? As of right now the admirals are fighting for the last spot for playoffs. The Heat have been ontop of the AHL standings for the past few weeks, Ortio's going to have a big chance to show his stuff off in the play offs, Hopefully Jmac is moved by than so he can get majority starts.

Mac's in net tonight for the heat, Ortio is always getting the 1st of back to back games. Sooner or later he should play both games to get used to it. But I cant complain on how they're handling him doing it like they're he's still undefeated.

Ramo doesnt need a KHL out clause, He could very well just walk away from the NHL if he truely cant handle playing in it. He's not trapped here over a contract like that.

I still stand by the point, that moving him was just plain stupid so early. especially for a smid return.

Its amazing how people were like Gillies > Gibson, it seems Ortio is making his push to be better than him aswell. Ortio has to be close to breaking a heat record as he's started off 9-0 in a rookie season.

Ortio with a shutout tonight to make it 9-0 while he's in net. Granlund keeps up his strong play with a goal and assist tonight, he's really starting to turn it on.

It really is about Ortio and Gillies, and they both are playing shutout hockey right now, Gillies is playing at a whole new level. And Ortio has basically carried the heat to a franchise best win streak, but still hasnt lost a game yet.

Results matter in this world, and kipper and iggy both didnt make them happen. Nor did they give this team the best as they left it. There was some quality other than just those two in the '04 run.

To say our goalies will never surpass Kipper is just something you dont want to say. Plain and simple kipper wasnt good enough for a cup on this team. We NEED a goalie to surpass kipper or were going to go through a decade long rebuild like the oilers.

Since everyone seems focused on Ramo and Berra I missed this so I would assume others have aswell WINNIPEG, MB -- Jon Gillies, the Flames third round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, made history this weekend when he posted his eighth collegiate shutout in a 3-0 win over UVM on Saturday. He is now the Providence College Friars all-time shutouts leader and is just 10 games into his sophomore season. Gillies also slammed the door on UVM on Friday, making 37 saves in a 3-2 Friars win.

I can't stand it anymore, this season wouldn't be making me mad if we didn't have situation's where hartley is screwing with our goalies and one of our moreso best forward prospects in bear.

Joni Ortio was credited for the win, stopping 19 of 22 shots. Ortio has now won all five of his starts with Abbotsford. Close 4-3 Game, Ortio comes up big, so does a pleasant suprise with micheal ferland waking up finnaly with a 2 goal night. Sophomore goaltender Jon Gillies (South Portland, Maine) earned his sixth win of the season for the Friars making 31 saves in the game. Janko with 2 Goals in a comeback 4-2 win.

ANCHORAGE, AK -- The Alaska Aces announced in conjunction with the ECHL that Aces goaltender Laurent Brossoit has been named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 2. Brossoit, 20, went 2-0-0 with two shutouts last week, helping guide the Aces to a three-game sweep of Bakersfield as the club improved to 7-1-0 on the season. Brossoit made his Aces’ debut late in a 6-3 win last Friday, stopping all eight shots he faced in six minutes of action. In his first start on Saturday, he turned aside all 16 shots he faced in a 5-0 win and on Sunday, made 16 more saves in a 4-0 victory. He joins J.P. Lamoureux (2009 Kelly Cup Playoffs vs. Utah) as the only two Aces goaltenders to record back-to-back shutouts in ECHL play and is the first goaltender in Aces history to accomplish the feat in the ECHL regular season.

ST. PAUL, MN -- Calgary Flames prospect Laurent Brossoit has played in three games for the Alaska Aces (ECHL) and he has yet to allow a single goal. The netminder posted two shutouts for the Aces this weekend, making 32 saves in a pair of games against the Bakersfield Condors. The back-to-back shutouts were the first by the Aces since Oct. 29-30, 2010 (Gerald Coleman and Adam Courchaine at Las Vegas and Bakersfield). He also played in a portion of the Aces clash with the Condors on Nov. 1, stopping 8 shots. The Aces sit first in the ECHL Western Conference with 14 points and a 7-1-0 record. They have allowed just 9 goals this year, the least in the league. Brossoit, who was the Flames sixth round pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, has also spent time with the Abbotsford Heat this year. He is in his first professional season after spending three years with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the WHL.
