  1. How low can we go?

I feel a bit ashamed/dirty looking for us to lose.  I know the players are professionals and will try their hardest every game but I really wouldn't mind them losing the next 9.

Anyone with a hint of injury should be shut down to rest for next season.

8th pick currently and I'm guessing 6th pick is a possiblity but cannot see us getting better than that.

We'll probably go on and end of season tear win 7 of 9 and picked 15/16th.

I was trying to think of a scenario that would actually piss off every single one of us, but is still plausible.

    I've come up with:

Winning the lottery, and picking Tij.

    watch for it.

jj in the nicest possible way.....

You Troll 😋   You are of course correct this would piss everybody off.

Not even the Flames could pass up on Celebrini.........

Not unexpected opinion, but I have to disagree.  Even more, I’m putting out a different opinion for consideration. Certainly what we have is what we have(2 1st rounders), but we also HAVE other options, like resurrection of the sabotaged Markstrom deal, and the UFA considerations to come in the next two years, I.e. Mangiapanne, Kuzmenko, Anderson, Markstrom plus…. Looking at trading both Markstrom and Anderson are not only possible, but have already been proposed, (Markstrom) and almost consummated.  In both returning 1st rounders is likely a key part of such trades.  So,  how about you curtail the negatives…?

of course, if multiple trades happen this year there obviously would be two key results.  Flames would need to acquire some shorter contracts to meet the SC floor, and the “retool” could be massively accelerated instead of the standard 3-5 years of high picks to obtain elite prospects.

Still don't think Markstrom gets you a 1st rounder or it would have been done.

34 year old coming off a good year, after a poor one, after a good one, after a poor one....... If he was with another team would you be happy the Flames taking him on?

I think we are biased and overvalue our assets.  Great if Conroy gets a 1st but unlikley unless they offer significant retention.

RD, should we just start referring to you as PG? Pool God? lol Or Wolf - winning all of the awards?

Lol, hardly.  I was in the lead by around 500 and its down to 136.

My boys are slumping badly at the moment.   Red and Zirak closing the gap

  5. Big difference being Tij Iginla in Boston or Dallas or any US market compared to a Canadian team.  Just ask his dad how he wasn't recognised in Boston! (Still makes me laugh that clip)   In a lot of markets NHL is not the 1st sport but in Calgary the Flames are the no 1 sports team.  Big difference and constant media attention is a lot of pressure for a player let alone the Iginla name tagged on.

Now I have only seen clips (his brother Joe looks like he can be even better) but I would like to think we don't make a stretch and draft him just based on the name.  Like Peeps says if he falls to us as BPA then fine I can live with that but I hope the scouts are treating him just like any other player and ignore the name.

I can see the marketing gurus salivating in taking Tij though.  Jarome getting up to announce the pick at the draft....  it would be a circus.

Andersson+ to OTT/ARZ could get 5/6 overall pick.

Markstrom+ to NJD could get their 9 overall pick.

With our own 12 overall pick, take Tij.

Draft two stud D's (one of each shot hand) and also Tij.  Would be perfect.

I think you are looking through Red tinted spectacles if you think Markstrom is worth a 9th overall pick.

Andersson maybe, but again I think we naturally over value our own players real worth.

  7. Yeah I'm with TD.  I would go with Coronato in for Kuzmenko but otherwise thats pretty much our best lines at this time.

Hunt has grown on me.  Sort of guy you can play up and down the line as needed.

With Vladar out might aswell give Wolf lots of reps.

  8. Yes Janko was not such a reach as people like to label him.   It was after all during  the Fester Fiasco years so it has its own legs just for that connection.  A 6' 4 centre with family athletic pedigree he must have looked enticing in a bad draft year. (did we not move back and get another pick aswell?  Or was that another year?).  For a 21st pick he has played 300 odd games in the NHL.  Not stellar but certainly a damn sight better than plenty of picks before and after him.

Like conundrumed said, other than the Bedard slam dunk type picks, they are 18 years old and no one really knows what they are going to turn ot to be.  Better to have loads of picks and spread your probability of acquiring a good NHL'er.

I thought this draft year was meant to be one of the worst in recent memory?    So I am happy they are loading picks for 25 and 26 aswell.

It would be awesome to get Lindstrom.

I think he goes top ten, just based on the tools he has.

Medicine Hat has a really good team. Andrew Basha could be an option, late 1st/2nd.

Yes Tigers going to be a really good team next year with Mckenna and the Ruck twins.   I think they have outperformed this year and don't see them going past the 1st round of the playoffs.    I assume McKenna will make the jump to the NHL at 18 so next season will be big for them.

  10. Yeah I would be cautious on Parascak.  A good PG team with good linemates.   Has had a great rookie year though.   18 in May.  RW  Right hand shot.

    Perhaps a 2nd round target?

With Cayden Lindstrom being injured I wonder if he drops down the draft?  Would be nice to get him at 14-16
