Super disappointing pick there from the Habs.
just a reminder that while they may say different the reality is pro sports will Never truly care about social issues. Talent and winning will always be priority 1
Coronato is not a one trick pony and actually has some of the best transition numbers in the class.
he’s got work to do yes, all prospects do, but this isn’t just a goal scorer.
He needs to develop because he is not the best skater and I think to continue to score at higher levels he will need to add more deception to his game. He relies on a real quick release and he scored a ton but I think he’ll need to add tools to continue to score as he moves up.
but if he does there is some huge upside here, even as a smaller player.
Coronato definitely feels like a Flames pick. Highly competitive kid, very skilled, wicked release. I’ve got a few questions and would have preferred Lucius but I get this pick.
they have a type and he is it for sure.
BPA for me would be Lucius, Coronato or Wallesdt. I’m not a big first round goalie guy unless they are special so if Flames fee he is then I’m fine pulling the trigger
I don’t scout goalies anymore so I won’t campaign for one.
Great pick there. Sillinger was my favorite player left as I think his upside is big. Arguable the best goal scorer in the draft.
Flames still in good shape but that stings a bit.
Hard to be surprised in a draft like this but Guenther falling to 9 is as close as it gets. For Arizona to get that type of prospect in trade is some excellent work.
Yzerman doesn’t tend to miss on high picks but I was not a fan of Edvinsson and this is the first pick of the draft I don’t get. I may not love MacTavish but I get it, this I don’t.
This helps the Flames for sure.
That’s a cool story to reunite the brothers. Was cool to see that video of his brother so pumped up.
I actually like Luke Hughes too. Don’t love his upside but I think he’ll play.
I actually thought the bottom 6 was a major problem for the team last year. I can understand the argument of the top 6 and needing more impact players but I also don’t think that’s happening. Flames need to have all lines contribution and they got very little out of their bottom 6 last year and basically nothing from their 4th line. Can’t afford that based on how they are built and how Sutter coaches.
like I said it is early and there could be more moves to come. I hope there is because all I’m saying is I think the draft itself left a lot of he desired for the kraken.
looks like they are either banking on trades or plan to go heavy into UFA or using their cap space. Could work but the fact they weren’t able to extract more picks I think is troublesome. Apparently flyers tried to pay them to take ghost but the price was higher than what they gave the coyotoes. That feels like a miss.
With no side deals some of their picks are real head scratchers. Have to see the rest of the plan come together but so far I’m not sure Francis is off to a great start.
but I do think Vegas set a bar that is not attainable again. Seattle seems more the norm of what an expansion franchise should be faced with.
