  1. Dunne is a good option. It would make sense as a potential replacement for Zaddy, as long as we have Guddy. Not sure if he bumps down Kylington. I liked the way that Kylington looked with Tanev. Unless we moved Kyl, I would tend to keep him there unless he falters. The thing is though that Tanev will miss some time. We need at least a 4/5 guy in the short term. Dunne seemed to me to be able to play LD/RD, so he may be a good option either way.
  2. I had wanted to sign him after Dallas bought him out. But, he is a very valuable player to COL. And they likely prioritize re-signing him before he goes UFA. He's gonna get 5 probably. Pooly, on the other hand, will get less than 3. Make no mistake, you are buying Pooly at a low instead of overpaying a UFA after a career year.
  3. That would screw over the Oilers and would lose out on over $8M in free cap. I don't understand how, but they get $3M from the Hawks in cap space if he did. But a player need not retire when they went out of their way to get the player.
  4. They need a Tanev not a Kylington. If they manage to convince Keith to retire, they will have money to offer Kulak. Though I tend to think they are thinking $3M tops for him. He sounds like he wants to go back to MTL. The tea leaves suggest that Pooly is not a big priority for them and Holland sounds like he's not sure he keeps him. The Oilers seem to have trouble identifying pro talent in trades. They make good high end FA signings. Hyman, Kane, etc., but have gone after Turris, Scevior, Shore. Previous trades are even worse. Not all were on the GM. Getting back to a trade with the Oilers. There have been so few between the teams. I'm thinking the only way it happens is a 3-way trade, but I doubt BT can get that done. You have to either have an extra pick to make it work or you send a decent value to a team and they send a cheap player to the Oilers. Like Dube to NY and Kravtsov to the Oilers.
  5. We have some dang good prospects there. Too bad we lost Rozie early on. Needed scoring this game. Most teams still in are rife with NHL players that had been waived to go to the AHL. We have a rookie goalie and a rookie winger that turned heads. Maybe they aren't ready for the Flames yet, but there are at least 4 players that should be fighting for jobs in camp.
  6. Yeah, I'm thinking we could use Coleman on the 3rd line with Rozie and Toffee. I don't expect Coleman to score 20, but he can dig out the garbage, kick the puck in the net or rough up people on the boards. I think we could use Pooly on the PP, since we don't have anyone to go to the net now. Should first fire Muller, but that's just my opinion.
  7. Okay, so 2-0. Not sure if it was EN, but it doesn;t lppk like it. 2 minutes left you are pinching no doubt.
  8. Heat have less than 2 minutes to tie it up. Down 1-0 in the 3rd. It was a great season and losing 1-0 is nothing to sneer at in an elimination game.
  9. Only way that I know of is subscription to AHL.COM TV. Something like $10 USD. The usual place doesn't have the game, only the Laval game tomorrow. Weird.
  10. Game 6 for the Heat. Must win. Here is the projected lineup: Justin Kirkland – Glenn Gawdin – Matthew Phillips Jakob Pelletier – Byron Froese – Martin Pospisil Emilio Pettersen – Connor Zary – Eetu Tuulola Alex Gallant – Rory Kerins – Walker Duehr Kevin Gravel – Colton Poolman Connor Mackey – Nick DeSimone Juuso Valimaki – Andy Welinski Dustin Wolf
  11. Here's a link that shows what we can OS, as well as the other teams can do: https://www.capfriendly.com/offer-sheet-calculator
  12. The OS is so rare these days. It helps a team sign a guy they may have trouble getting inked. Sure, if either EDM or NY matched, they would have cap to maneuver, but every team does. EDM wouldn't let Pooly go for just a 2nd. They would trade him if they thought one was coming. As much as I trash EDM, they can seem to figure out cap. Might have to trade a good player. But they are more than just a Pooly or Yammer signing away from returning to glory. An unmatched OS makes them worse and doesn't really add cap scape. They are also looking to sign that guy from the KHL.
  13. I get the opinion. If I'm EDM, I would think a trade is the best thing to do. He doesn't fit there. He started off well, then tailed off to nothing. While we had players that still got PP time when they didn't add much, he was removed. Assuming he was capable, play him with Backlund and Mange. Gives you a 3rd line of Coleman-Rozie-Toffoli. Puljujarvi is not slow, so playing with two guys that transition to offense might work miracles. We don't have a lot of size on the wings. Gaudreau, Mange, Coleman, Toffoli, Dube. Tkachuk's size is one reason why the top line does what it does. Again, this is dependent on cost. Dube would be the odd man out. Not sure that's a good trade for us, but he would fit in their top 9.
  14. I think Puljujarvi has a good chance at living up to his potential under a different coach. I expect that EDM will try to underpay him to manage their cap. Or give him another low-ball, prove it contract. He needs a bit of work, but the underlying numbers suggest he is capable of getting there.
  15. Wasn't that Kravtsov, who got lent to KHL?
  16. I see a trend with players in NY. Attitude problems that disappear when they go elsewhere. Doesn't mean a lot, but at the end of the CAR/NY series, a lot of ex-teammates were patting the back of Deangelo. Maybe it was isolated, but it didn't appear to me that the NY players hated him. I don't want problem children like Kane, with their toxic lifestyle possibly infecting the locker room. But a guy that may have an on-ice attitude can be broken down by the coaches. Since these are likely trades, I want to get the best talent available where we need it. C, RW, D. If we are thinking of using Kylington as part of any trade, then we best be getting a top 4 D to replace his minutes. As it is, Tanev will likely miss some of the season. The Kyl/Tanev pair maintained a +/- of 34 to 35. They faced a lot of quality players. Valimaki and Mackey will be basically both rookies this year. Have to be ready to shelter them.
  17. The problem with the offer sheet is that teams won't let a player go for a 2nd rounder. And you are setting up for an OS coming back, should that team let the player go. CAR got back at MTL and they didn't even lose the player. With EDM, there is less likely an OS coming back, but we would have to overpay before they don't match. 4.2 is well over his value, especially iff it's longer than a couple of years. But, do we get a player that valuable? The problem with basement teams is the value of those picks is higher. Have to use your own picks. If they went 4.3 it would be their 1st and 3rd. NY would let him go for that.
  18. It seems that every year Tampa has to get rid of someone to solve next year's cap. They are over for next year as it stands now. I wonder if Cirelli could be had for a lesser player. In some ways it's a cap dump. He's got one year left and then will get a good contract. But in other ways, he's just a guy making his value and they need to start elsewhere. Killorn is about the only other guy they could dump, but not sure they get takers. Maybe McDonagh but that's a long term deal left.
  19. CHI is also reported to be taking calls on The Cat. Can you imaging Debrincat on the top line in place of Tkachuk? Okay, so here's a reasonable offer: Tkachuk + Dube for Debrincat + Dach. I only added Dube because we have to manage roster spots. Tkachuk is easily worth Debrincat and maybe even Dach included. The extra year of The Cat at $6.4M helps even the trade a bit.
  20. I think you have to do more like Hanifin + Valimaki + Zary. Maybe add Dube in there. It cleans out the depth a bit, but you have to pay to get it done. If you can get away with just Hanifin + Dube + Zary, then we retain a 6/7 D. Dube is the prize for them. No real fit here. Hanifin gets them a seasoned vet. If we added Monahan, they could toss in Ghost.
  21. I'm just saying that had he protected it, it would be the same result. If you protect, you also have to make it worth the other team's while. In the Toffoli trade, it was top 10 protected which cost us, but also less chance of happening since it was late season. On the whole, you should always make it a protected 1st unless it's a TDL trade where you have zero chance of missing the playoffs.
  22. Congrats to the top 3. NY getting through was my only (miniscule) hope. I get the copper medal. It's a shame that the Oilstains impacted this pool so much. Two players not even in the SCF that may win the playoff scoring.
  23. AVS managed to stop 3 of the leading scorers in the playoffs. And sweep a team that seemed to be able to score at will. With the equivalent of Georgiev in nets. They didn't face a team of the quality of TBL, but the AVS are easily more dynamic than NY. It comes down to goaltending. The AVS will face the best goalie but they have many weapons. And the speed of attack. Shesterkin was awesome for most of the time but aweful at other times. How Kuemper plays is key. But the AVS also play a nasty game. I don't have a dog in this fight, but I am rooting for the ex Moosehead. Point will not be the same factor he was last year. And they are not facing MTL.
  24. That's good. See that Kerins has 2 games so far in this series, one being the shutout loss. What's up with Rozie? Been out after playing game 1.
  25. We gave up a 12th and I think it was a terrible trade. It would have been a mistake had NY won the lotto.
