Actually in Roy's last stint in the ECHL was 2.81 GAA and .911 SV% which was the playoffs of the year you're quoting. Not exactly great numbers. And his numbers so far this year in the AHL are even worse. I've only ever watched Roy at the world juniors but I wasn't impressed with his play then. Having watched Brossoit on many occasions in the dub and memorial cup I thought he is a good athlete with a great frame frame for goaltending. He has a lot to learn but I've seen improvments over time so that leads me to believe he has some potential. Edmonton got the better goaltender in this trade.

Hopefully Ortio's strong play has earned the trust of Troy Ward because he is the one who makes the call over who gets the starts. There was pressure from the management to develope Leland Irving and we all know what happened there. Troy Ward's job is to win and he will play whoever he feels gives the team the best chance. I'm pulling for Ortio to be honest. Jmac would be great in a backup role for the heat if he brings the right attitude. And it would serve Brossoit well to have a year in the ECHL. Run with Berra/Ramo for 2 seasons and see where our 3 prospects are after that.

Berra is going to get a chance to be the starter. Hartley has always had high praise for Berra, having coached against him in Switzerland. And if it were up to him we would have been rolling with Berra/Jmac to start the season. On another note Brossoit recently had a shutout for the Aces.

If Joey isn't claimed he will get the majority of the starts down in Abbotsford.

Was a good game by Ramo last night. One thing is forsure, he has better rebound control than Jmac. I liked his compete level too. He didnt have the same huge flashy secondary saves that Jmac sometimes has but thats because he didnt have to. He was making more calm first saves and controlling the rebounds. Hopefully he can keep improving. Ideally I would still like to see Ramo/Berra in a 1a 1b role this year. It would be best for all our prospective goalies to get rid of Jmac. The last thing we want is another Irving situation.

Good game by Jmac tonight. Made some really big and timely saves. Obviously the coaching staff made the right call in giving him the start tonight. That stacked pads save was amazing. Ramo has his work cut out for him. If you all remember when Kipper was faltering last year Jmac earned the trust of Hartley. I think Hartley sees Jmac as the best goalie we have right now(he may be right). And that cant bode well for Ramo's development. Ramo should get better the more games he plays. But he may need to improve to get those games.

To be honest I think Jmac has earned it. I know he let in 5 goals on 23 shots or whatever it was but 3 of those goals were from mistakes made by the team and they left him out to dry. He also made some very timely saves to keep it tied and a big part of goaltending is making timely saves. I would agree, however, that it would be best if Ramo got more starts. We know what we have with Jmac, he's is a career backup goalie. Ramo has the potential to be a starter in this league, or he has the potential to end up back in Russia after his contract expires. The fact is we don't yet know what we have with him. Now while I agree with Hartley and the coaching staff that Jmac has earned THIS start, I would hope that they will work Ramo into some more games on a consistent basis. Hopefully he performs well enough to earn himself even more starts.

If you look at what the Rangers did with Zuccarello they were able to bring him over with permission from his KHL team. But you better believe Avangard Omsk will offer everything and the kitchen sink to keep Ramo around. It's definitely troubling news hearing that Feaster was going for ANOTHER goalie in Bishop. Is that a sign of trouble in the Ramo dealings? Who knows, but it's a topic of conversation thats forsure.

lol come on DeeDee I'm just trying to rile up some already cheesed off Flames fans. Also he's not signed yet is he? His team has been eliminated from the KHL playoffs he could potentially already be playing for Calgary (with permission from Avangard Omsk obviously) Not to mention Feaster has stated that as soon as Omsk's season is over he wants to get Ramo over here asap. Something to think about anyway

Will Karri Ramo even sign with the Calgary Flames? Or will he choose to stay in the KHL and probably make more money while NOT paying taxes? Fact: Karri Ramo likes playing in the KHL Fact: Karri Ramo has a bad taste in his mouth from his previous NHL experience. With the aquisition of Berra(lol), and Feaster apparently trying and failing to aquire Bishop, does this show us Feaster is also worried about getting a deal done with Ramo?
