  1. Beck is a very intriguing pick. Played 1 year in the OHL as a 16 year old rookie and then didn’t play at all last year due to the pandemic.some good offensive numbers in his career so be interesting to see where he goes once he starts playing. Not thrilled with Ciona. He looks like a throw back, Sutter style pick. Big, has some intriguing offensive numbers but skating needs work. a roll of the dice on that type of skill set is not the worst thing here though and certainly not In this draft so not going to get worked up about it. First pick of the draft I’m not liking.
  2. Cole Jordan reminds me of Brett Kulak. Great reports on his skating and ability to carry the puck but doesn’t generate much offense. Just like Kulak coming out. thats solid at this point in the draft.
  3. Next to Coronato this is my favorite pick of the draft so far.Back to back the Flames have taken good potential Dmen in the 3rd round. I like the upside in both Porier and Whynot. Excited to track Whynot next year. He’s got the potential to really tack another step so be curious to see if he can it may not be a home run but this has been a real solid draft for the Flames
  4. I really like that pick and it’s some great value at this point in the draft. He is a project but there is a great skill set there good vision, good ability to transition with the puck, he’s in the mold of where the game is going for dmen. needs some work on his footwork and defending but it’s very much correctable. Huska should be great for him.
  5. Wouldn’t have a problem with multiple trade downs now. Keep collecting lottery tickets in this type of draft.
  6. The size and skill combo is nice here. I’m all for getting bigger but not at the sacrifice of skill. Flames have struck a nice balance with these last two picks.
  7. Flames continue to add size. Not a flashy pick but a solid one especially in a draft like this one. Power forward type who seems to thrive on the forecheck. Good two way numbers too. upside not really there but lots to like.
  8. I don't love Mactavish but Anaheim is still having a heck of a draft.
  9. Coronato would fit that description. Could argue he's got more upside than Lucius. Definetly is not "safe".
  10. Good grief. The negativity around here is getting out of hand especially considering it's not even based on fact. Hakan Loob is the Flames European PRO SCOUT. his role is to scout potential European free agents, he is not part of their amateur team. Bobbie Hagelin is their guy in Sweden on the amateur side and has been since 2013. I also hate how just because he's going to Harvard the Flames are now at risk of losing Coronato. He said flat out yesterday he wants to play in the NHL and he wants to play for the Flames. Why even bother worrying about something that is so unlikely to happen? also as a reminder the rule for opting for UFA is the same for players in major junior as it is for college players. It's 4 years post draft for both.
  11. He’s 6’3 at 18 years old, of course he does. if he didn’t he would have been a top 10 pick.
  12. The funny thing about the Stromgren pick is for so long we’ve heard about how the Flames are not big enough, fast enough, not north-south enough and don’t have a power forward Well they just drafted that skill set.
  13. I personally hate the idea of consensus drafting but it’s even more true this year. This draft was going to be all over the place so expecting it to go a certain way was not going to happen imo.
  14. It’s almost like perhaps we should put more faith in the scouts who actually watch and analyze these prospects instead of relying on people who don’t do it for a living?
  15. I wish they would have gone the more skilled/upside route in Stankoven or Pustujov but this is not a bad pick. He is big but he can move very well for his size and has some offensively ability too. Not sure the upside is there but he’s a very intriguing size/skill combo the flames don’t really have on their prospect pool.
  16. The NHL badly needs to make their draft more watchable. This is beyond painful how long this is taking.
  17. I hope the pick is one of Pustujov or Stankoven. Big upside there left on the board at this point.
  18. This will probably be an interesting looking deal
  19. Wouldn’t have been my favorite pick but Chayka would have been a good option especially if they want D. still a good looking board.
  20. Cool story there. Being in the draft room when they select your son must be an all time moment. Very cool
  21. I like that pick for Anaheim. Was hoping he’d fall but he’s so skilled. Small for a dman but he’s fun to watch
  22. No sign and trade for Oil and Hyman it appears but it looks like Hyman will be on Oiler.
  23. agreed. I like Stankoven and Pastujov the most.
  24. Some intriguing value left for Flames tomorrow. Olen Zellweger Sasha Pastujov Logan Stankoven Red Savage That group would be plan A. Daniel Chayka intriguing on D too.
