So let's say this team catches lightning in a bottle, gets into the playoffs and makes some noise...without changing anything. Should Sutter still have been fired?

6-3-3 since he 'stepped down'. That's fifteen out of a possible twenty four points.

At this point I would say there is no question that dutter build a playoff team, but the contracts and amount of NTC used to do so was not the right way to go about all these signings

I think it all comes down to one thing basically. Stajan.
That was the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. Even with tons of NTC and all the core locked up long term I think Dutter would still be here if Stajan wasn't signed for so much and under performing so badly.
