  1. Sometimes it changes the out come of a game but its done, Every game you watch and see questionalbe penaltys will now make you wonder. Pretty sad thing and for a Ref to say it like that, it must be a common practice not just him.

Pretty much. We are still a very average team, in time perhaps Sutter can get the team playing at a much higher level but don’t think we see it this year.

I think they are doing as well as they can with what they have, its just the reality of it. They are not all of a sudden start beating teams on a regular basis and going to the top of the standings. The team needs change in terms of players coming in and players going out. There is no steady offensive threat, hard time scoring and thats been for at least 2 years. All top teams have  a number one guy and if you ask people who is the number one on these teams you will hear the name everytime. The Flames do not have a number 1 guy, they have @ 3 guys that can score once every 5 games. This is fine if the team wants to stay in the middle of the league as they have for years.

Really ?from what ive seen from ritchie it does.

Weve tried every other option. So why not. He can skate he can put the puck in the net. He isn't afraid of hitting.  Remember ferly?

Agree 100% I was hoping for that line, those other two will get less cheap shots maybe play better with the protection

I do hope they use the prospects a bit better in the Sutter era.  Nothing worse than calling up a player like Phillips and sitting him.  I believe we had instances where we were down a top 9 player and all we did was insert a guy like Rinaldo on the 4th line and bump up players.  This year it's a bit harder to tell, since our 3rd line is 2/3 top 6 players.

Norstrom out - sure it makes some sense to play Rinaldo, but 2-4 minutes in a B2B game doesn't make sense to me.  Might as well run a 7th D and use him both on D and as a F.

I think they just cannot do any worse bringing guys up,, I almost lost my mind with the Lomberg experiment. Lots of good talent on the team now, just need to give them a chance to play.

Think it’s time to temper the expectations of the impact that Sutter will have this season. He’s a proven coach and we all know what we can expect from his teams however this coaching change may have happened a little too late in the season. It’ll be extreme tough for this team to reach that magic 66pts that is the potential floor for playoff bound teams this year. We can’t afford to lose more than 10 games from this point on, which is a very tall ask. Sutter is demanding but these things take time, and time is not on our side.

The coaching change was imperative but I’m not so sure Darryl will be the saviour who can salvage what’s looking like an already lost season. Well be better but we might have to start looking to next season to see the full results of this change.

Yes I would say the same, its just too late for a guy to come in and make them winners, I believe he will change some things for sure and the style of play but I think his major concerns will be planning for next year, who is getting the axe and who can he bring in to fit in his style of team. This is just a time for him to evaulate the team and players plus getting his own team system in place.

I thinknthey did a good job of generating shots but they didn’t do a good job of getting Smith to move from side to side. The Flames may get shots but only make the opposing goalie have to make straight forward saves.

I agree, I say it all the time, when have you ever seen a flames player planted in front of the net? Rarely.  You very seldom see a couple of them in there, even on the power play, rarely a flame in front of the net causing havoc,, easy saves for the opposition goalie.

Don’t think they played soft by any means last night against the Coilers. It was a very tight game so there weren’t a ton of golden opportunities, only reason we lost is because of Mcdavid. This game was pretty night and day compared to this team earlier in the week. We will be a tough out to play from now on.

I thought they had lots of nice chances. I believe it was like 20 shots on net in the first period and some decent chances.  Oh and the way the team played earlier in the week yes I agree but I  don't even want to think about that train wreck.

I agree and the only way we become a hitting team is by adding Robinson, Rinaldo and having Bennett and Lucic. I would say Mange plays with grit and can use his body but it’s a good way of shortening his career if the expectations are to be a hitting team. All of the guys who are hitters, aside from Lucic, deserve about 5-7 minutes a game and I am now throwing Bennett into that category.

the way the GM has it, theyve created a team where about one-third or two-thirds of each line have skill, but not speed....

    you’re right, disappointing!

Its just too bad Robinson doesn't hit and can't fight his way out of a paper bag.

Exactly, BT needs to figure out is Bennett an asset or not, if he is then Ward is out of not then trade him and let him realize his potential...

my hope is Ward gets the boot...sooon!!!!!!

I agree totally, but what does it take for someone upstairs to get off their Hash Rate and start to sort some things out. I really don't know what they are waiting for, the wheels have fallen off. Plus I think Ward should be able to tell the fans why he is benching Bennett.

As much as I dislike torts I think he would do wonders in Calgary

NO not Torts  he totally suks as a coach, just look at the teams he has messed up in the last 4 years, besides the reality is a coach change is not going to bring this team to a play off contender, they need to make team changes and not just one. its been a long time comming.

Ok so we have a few ready for the NHL but tell me how many NHL players should be playing in the AHL right now? Because the way there playing right now I think an AHL team could clean there clocks.

I agree and would love to see an AHL team play an NHL team. Some of those NHL players are getting big bucks for nothing or one season they played well

is it a product of aging or the coach? What has he done historically? Maybe it’s a change in coaching philosophy that is affecting his game and not his age? Probably his age though.

Like i said before he is getting too old, trade him while you can get something for him,, business decision not like the flames always do, lets keep him until he retires here. He is on a steep slide. too old period.

That is a fair question. To me it seems like he wants to play and heavy/grinding style of game, and have the defense fall back to the front of the net and try to block shots.

Well they are not heavy or grinders, but for sure the defense falls back don't want the opposition to have to shoot from too far out. Forecheck lol wtf is that.

Calgary has had 7 coaches in the last 15 years, none of them have been head coaches in the NHL after coaching here. This speaks to the quality of the coaches that have been hired here. On the other hand if I am a top head coach am I going to a team where coaching careers go to die?

Very good point. I think Sutter did but good point. I'm just scared they will bring in Torts and make it even worse.

  15. You can put lipstick on a Pig and you all know the results. On their best day they are a mid range team. Take away the HYPE and HOPE and WHAT IF'S and its hard to disagree you get what you get. A BELOW AVERAGE TEAM PLAYING LIKE A BELOW AVERAGE TEAM BECAUSE THATS WHO THEY ARE.
